For small to medium businesses, Microsoft Active Directory is rarely the most cost effective solution for an identity management solution. That’s why IT consultants increasingly recommended JumpCloud’s Directory-as-a-Service® to their clients as an alternative to Active Directory.
Amy Lee Anderson is a skilled server administrator that works as an IT consultant and repair technician. Amy often consults with small to medium businesses, so she was pleased to discover a cost effective alternative to Active Directory. Amy was kind enough to sit down with us to answer a few questions about her experience with JumpCloud.
Partner Story: An IT Consultant’s Perspective
What do you think of Directory-as-a-Service?
Amy: I’m enjoying JumpCloud. The big selling points for me are the price, the flawless integration into Windows Login, and the cross-platform support.
What problem is JumpCloud solving for clients?
Amy: It solves centralized management issues for clients who can’t or won’t get an AD environment setup. This is great for us because it’s like pulling teeth to get a client to pay several hundred dollars a month to support <10 users on laptops. JumpCloud offers a more cost-effective alternative.
Can you tell us about JumpCloud’s integration with Windows Login?
Amy: It’s seamless. It picks up and uses existing profiles, requires no migration, and no additional login prompts – which is impressive after seeing how badly other non-Microsoft solutions handle it.
How did clients manage cross-platform environments before JumpCloud?
Amy: Previously I’ve handled it very gently, with not much being managed on the Mac/Linux systems through AD except for some email credential management.
What advice would you share with other IT consultants who are looking at JumpCloud?
Amy: Give it a good test run, ask the team all the questions you can think of, and you may encounter a good use for it with your clients.
