Vault: Audits

Vault is an effective tool for a company's audit processes. This guide details the key actions and instructions for conducting a successful audit, focusing on three essential types of checks.

Accessing Session Recordings

Vault provides video recordings of remote accesses made through the platform. This is a powerful tool for auditing user activity on remote computers.

  1. Log in to the Vault platform.
  2. Go to Servers.
  3. Go to Actions, select Sessions and click View All.
  4. In the Actions column, click View Files. The Session Files modal window is displayed.
  5. On the Session Files window, click Video. A video of the session is displayed.
  6. You can watch the video or click the download icon to download the video.

Accessing User Login Activity

Tracking user activity is crucial for security. This check allows you to see who is using the platform and what they are doing. It's also important for ensuring that terminated employees have had their access removed.

  1. As an administrator, access your dashboard. You can do this by clicking on your vault's name.
  2. Look for the Last Logins section.
  3. Click Load data to display the recent login activity of all users.

Note:

User login frequency can vary. It is a good practice to contact users to confirm their usage frequency before deactivating their accounts.

Accessing User Permission Reports

A good audit requires a detailed understanding of who has access to what. You can use Vault's features to export permission reports and view all resources shared with a specific user.

To Export a Permission Report

  1. Go to Administration > Users
  2. Click Export to File and then select Export Permission Report. This will give you a spreadsheet with all user permissions.

To View Permissions for a Single User

  1. For Master Admins, you can go to Administration > Users.
  2. Select the desired user, and click Actions > Permissions. This will show you all resources and permissions tied to that user.
