JumpCloud® SaaS Management gives you visibility and control over shadow IT and SaaS app use within your org. Connectors detect shadow IT without adoption of a browser extension and provide a significant increase to the valuable usage and security insights.
The Segment Connector retrieves user information from the Segment API. Using periodic polling for regular updates, it captures new users to keep data accurate and up-to-date.
Prerequisites
- You need a Segment account with the Workspace Owner role.
Considerations
- Based on your organization’s size, the initial collection of data may take some time, up to an hour.
Configuring Segment
- Log in to Segment.
- Go to Settings > Workspace Settings > Access Management.
- Click Tokens, then Create Token.
- Enter a Name for the API token.
- Select the Workspace Owner access level.
- Click Create.
- Copy and save the API token.
For security reasons, you may only see the API token once. Save it in a secure location before closing the window.
Configuring JumpCloud
- Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal.
- Go to SECURITY MANAGEMENT > SaaS Management.
- In SaaS Management settings, go to the Connector tab and select + Add Connector.
- Click the Segment connector.
- Enter the following information:
- The Connector name.
- The API Token copied from Segment.
- Select the appropriate Segment API region:
- For US-based Workspaces, select api.segmentapis.com.
- For EU-based Workspaces, select eu1.api.segmentapis.com
- Click Connect and then Save Connector.
- You will now see Segment in your list of Connectors.
If permissions are accidentally removed, or if the admin who configured left your organization, the connector will stop working and you will be prompted to Reconnect.
Uninstall/Remove
- On the Connector’s detail page, click on Delete Connector and follow the prompts.
- To revoke the permissions granted to JumpCloud, delete the API token in Segment.
