SaaS Management: Grafana Connector

JumpCloud® SaaS Management gives you visibility and control over shadow IT and SaaS app use within your org. Connectors detect shadow IT without adoption of a browser extension and provide a significant increase to the valuable usage and security insights.

The Grafana Connector retrieves the user list from the Grafana API. Using periodic polling for regular updates, it captures new users and new application associates to keep data accurate and up-to-date.

Grafana User: Provides an up-to-date list of Grafana users.

Prerequisites:

  • You need a Grafana account with admin access.

Considerations:

  • Based on your organization’s size, the initial collection of data may take some time, up to an hour.

Configuring Grafana

  1. Log in to your Grafana account.
  2. Go to Administration > Users and access and click Service accounts.
  3. Click Add service account.
  4. Enter a Display name and set the Role to Admin.
  5. Click Create to view the service account details.
  6. Click Add service account token.
  7. Enter a Display name for the token and click Generate token.
  8. Copy and save the token. You'll need this to complete the JumpCloud configuration.

Important:

For security reasons, you'll only see the token once. Save it in a secure location before closing the window.

Configuring JumpCloud

  1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal.
  2. Go to SECURITY MANAGEMENT > SaaS Management > Settings.
  3. Under SaaS Management Settings, click the Connectors tab, then click + Add Connector.
  1. Click the Grafana connector.
  2. Enter the following information:
    • The Connector name.
    • The URL of your Grafana instance.
    • The Service account token copied from Grafana.
  3. Click Connect and then Save Connector. You will now see Grafana in your list of Connectors.

Note:

If permissions are accidentally removed, or if the admin who configured left your organization, the connector will stop working and you will be prompted to Reconnect.

Required Permissions

  • This connector requires a Service Account Token that grants Admin level access. When you create the Service Account, you must assign the Admin role to ensure the connector has full read access to all users and organizational data.

Uninstall/Remove

  • On the Connector’s detail page, click on Delete Connector and follow the prompts.
  • To revoke the permissions granted to JumpCloud, delete the service account token in Grafana.
