The governance and security requirements of modern IT rely upon direct, easy, and consolidated access to information. Unfortunately, that’s a feature that’s not been available in traditional on-premises directories such as Microsoft’s Active Directory. At JumpCloud, we’ve enhanced our admin User Interface (UI) to be in full alignment with what small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) need to perform and remain in compliance with the introduction of a new Device Panel Highlights tab. The tab displays the full context of what’s impacting an individual device, what’s happening with it, and who’s accessing it.
Better User Experience and Time Savings
IT admins are typically required to invest time and effort into extracting the necessary data they need from device management and IAM platforms to perform anything from long-term reporting to simple day-to-day tasks. This can be a prohibitive amount of work, or only provide some information which makes the resulting task more difficult than it needs to be. The problem grows in magnitudes when organizations have to perform audits (such as PCI), and assemble information to remain in compliance, all while performing their regular job duties.
With this release, JumpCloud admins have device health and activity information at their fingertips. Users will immediately notice that all device health and activity information is available in a central place versus toggling between tabs to complete the picture. This improvement to the user experience saves time and makes the tasks of governance/compliance much easier for IT teams. The image below illustrates how easy it is to get started with adding a user, a device group, or policy using the new Highlights tab.

The Device Panel Highlights tab offers users:
- A central landing tab when investigating an individual device
- An overview of the device’s activity and agent status
- A listing of all engaged users
- Group and policy enrollment
- Hardware and network details
Your Entire Ecosystem in One Place
The Device Panel Highlights tab delivers more than a better UX; it works across all categories of devices and operating systems. This provides visibility throughout heterogeneous IT environments, not just a single OS, and without the constraints of Active Directory where “users” and “computers” exist as different objects. A new admin immediately understands what they’re observing within JumpCloud versus the ample confusion and learning curve that’s created by legacy directory systems. Usability isn’t just for end users, admins benefit as well.
