Save Your Seat

For IT administrators, MSP admins, sysadmins, and security professionals, there’s one omnipresent and ominous threat they face on the job every day: the next cyberattack on their organization is not a matter of if, but when. The best offense to thwart these attacks is a good defense — and the best defense is a security model that includes a strategy for protecting end user devices, no matter where they are.

The device management and security services within the JumpCloud Directory Platform now provide even stronger protection for Windows® devices: new Windows Security Commands can be applied in moments to keep computers safe for users working anywhere. Online devices will receive commands right away, and security is ensured for offline devices: commands will execute on offline machines the next time they come online. Check out this quick video to see it in action:

Remote Security Can Save Your Data

Organizations of any size, from global enterprises to small and medium businesses, know bad actors are an ever-present threat; when successful, breaches can be costly and damaging. We saw in 2020 and can expect to keep witnessing in 2021 that bad actors are exploiting new attack vectors in creative and sophisticated ways. But gaining access to an end user’s device could be as simple for attackers as finding a device left alone at a coffee shop, unattended and easily grabbed.

While you can bet on bad actors relentlessly trying to gain access to your data and resources, you can take proactive steps to ensure you’re able to defend against these attacks. The right layers of security for your IT environment should include a plan to protect the devices in your fleet, regardless of where they’re located. That’s where Windows Security Commands — alongside other features in the JumpCloud platform — can help.

Proximity Isn’t Problematic for Windows Protection

JumpCloud’s Windows Security Commands is a new way for JumpCloud Admins to safeguard the Windows devices they manage. The feature’s point-and-click security commands let IT admins provide instant protection for end user devices when the user is working in an office, remotely, and while traveling.

When a user’s identity is compromised and their device can be logged into by a bad actor, or if a user accidentally leaves their laptop in a taxi, you can act fast to immediately protect the device with JumpCloud’s Windows Security Commands to restart, shut down, lock, or erase Windows devices. These commands are queued, so even if a managed device is offline when you click on a command, it will take effect the next time the device comes online. Online managed systems will accept commands when applied.

SaaS Security for Windows, macOS, and More

Now you know that you can use the JumpCloud Directory Platform to manage and secure Windows devices in mixed environments. If you’re new to JumpCloud, you should also know that the platform is built to be vendor-agnostic and lets admins manage Windows, Mac®, and Linux® devices.

For instance, if you’re like many IT pros today, you might need a solution that not only gives you ways to securely manage Windows devices but also macOS devices. In JumpCloud you’ll find Apple MDM security commands for Macs that function similarly to Windows Security Commands to enable you to apply commands to lock, restart, shut down, and erase macOS devices.

How does JumpCloud secure and manage every device? It all comes down to the JumpCloud agent, which when installed on end users devices allow them to become managed by JumpCloud Admins from their Admin Console. The console is your all-in-one workspace where you can ensure your organization’s devices, as well as user identities and their access to resources, apps, and networks, are protected from the daily attacks you might be facing.

“We installed the JumpCloud System Agent, we added users, we added some profile requirements, and it all just worked.”
