Configure Atlassian Rovo for the AI Gateway

To allow users to securely query Atlassian data using their AI clients, you can configure the Atlassian Rovo Model Context Protocol (MCP) server within the JumpCloud AI Gateway.

Prerequisites

Before configuring specific enterprise applications, we recommend reviewing the Get Started: AI Gateway guide to familiarize yourself with the gateway architecture and core AI concepts (such as MCP servers and AI clients).

Completing Application Setup

Unlike some enterprise applications that require you to host the server yourself, Atlassian provides a remote, cloud-hosted MCP server. However, before you can connect this server to JumpCloud, an Atlassian Organization Admin must explicitly enable it for your workspace.

Refer to the official Atlassian documentation to Manage Atlassian Rovo MCP server and ensure the following prerequisites are met:

  • Enable the Server: You must turn on the Atlassian Remote MCP server in your Atlassian Administration security settings.
  • Configure Server Settings: You must add the following domain in the MCP server settings for JumpCloud’s redirect_uri: https://console.jumpcloud.com/userconsole/mcp/servers/callback.
  • Authentication Method: We recommend using OAuth authentication.

Configuring the Server in JumpCloud

Once the Atlassian Rovo MCP server is enabled in your workspace, register it in the JumpCloud Admin Portal.

  1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal.

Important:

If your data is stored outside of the US, check which login URL you should be using depending on your region. If your organization uses LDAP, RADIUS, or requires firewall allow list configuration, the Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDNs) will also be region specific. See JumpCloud Data Centers for the URLs, FQDNs, and IP addresses.

  1. Go to Access > AI Gateway.
  2. Select the Servers tab.
  3. Click + Add Server.
  4. In the App dropdown, select Atlassian, or select Custom App.
  5. Enter a name for the server and an optional prefix to prepend to the MCP tool names. Prefixes must be unique.
  6. Enter https://mcp.atlassian.com/v1/mcp as the MCP server URL.
  7. Under Authentication method, we recommend selecting OAuth.

Note:

For Atlassian’s OAuth configuration, the Client ID and Scope are not required. We don’t recommend using API authentication.

  1. Click Create.

Your users will now see Atlassian listed as an available tool when they authenticate their AI clients through the JumpCloud AI Gateway.
