SaaS Management: Asana Connector

JumpCloud® SaaS Management gives you visibility and control over shadow IT and SaaS app use within your org. Connectors detect shadow IT without adoption of a browser extension and provide a significant increase to the valuable usage and security insights.

The Asana Connector retrieves user information from the Asana API. Using periodic polling for regular updates, it captures new users and application associations to keep data accurate and up-to-date.

Prerequisites

  • You need a Asana account with the ability to create API tokens.

Considerations

  • Based on your organization’s size, the initial collection of data may take some time, up to an hour.

Configuring Asana

  1. Log in to Asana.
  2. Go to Settings > Apps.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click View Developer Console.
  4. Click Create new token.
  5. Enter a Name for the API token.
  6. Click Create token.
  7. Copy and save the API token.

Important:

For security reasons, you may only see the API token once. Save it in a secure location before closing the window.

Configuring JumpCloud

  1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal.
  2. Go to SECURITY MANAGEMENT > SaaS Management.
  3. In SaaS Management settings, go to the Connector tab and select + Add Connector.
  1. Click the Asana connector.
  2. Enter the Connector name.
  3. Under API Token, paste the token from Asana.
  4. Click Connect and then Save Connector.
  5. You will now see Asana in your list of Connectors.

Note:

If permissions are accidentally removed, or if the admin who configured left your organization, the connector will stop working and you will be prompted to Reconnect.

Uninstall/Remove

  • On the Connector’s detail page, click on Delete Connector and follow the prompts.
  • To revoke the permissions granted to JumpCloud, delete the API token in Asana.
