Create an iOS Home Screen Shortcut Policy

You can add a shortcut (web clip) to the home screen of a user's iOS or iPadOS device. Shortcuts provide fast access to favorite web pages or links, such as the JumpCloud User Portal, work email, or work calendar.

To configure an iOS Home Screen Shortcut policy:

  1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal:
  2. Go to DEVICE MANAGEMENT > Policy Management.
  3. In the All tab, click (+).
  4. On the New Policy panel, select the iOS tab.
  5. Select iOS Home Screen Shortcut from the list, then click configure.
  6. (Optional) In the Policy Name field, enter a new name for the policy or keep the default. Policy names must be unique.
  7. (Optional) In the Policy Notes field, enter details like when you created the policy, where you tested it, and where you deployed it.
  8. Under WebClip Settings, configure these fields:
    1. Select Is Removable to let a user remove the shortcut from an iOS or iPadOS device.
    2. In the Label field, specify the shortcut name that will be displayed on the user’s home screen.
    3. In the URL field, specify the URL that the shortcut opens after the user clicks it. The URL must begin with HTTP or HTTPS. This example includes the URL to launch the JumpCloud User Portal.
  1. Under Icon Image, configure these fields:
    1. Click upload file to locate and upload a .png graphic icon file. Maximum size is 1 MB when uncompressed and 400 x 400 pixels. Other file types are not supported. If you don’t upload a file, a white square is displayed for the icon.
    2. Select Precomposed to Prevent Apple’s SpringBoard from adding a shine or glossy sheen to the icon when it’s displayed on the user’s home screen.
  1. (Optional) Select the Device Groups tab. Select one or more device groups where you’ll apply this policy. For device groups with multiple OS member types, the policy is applied only to the supported OS.
  2. (Optional) Select the Devices tab. Select one or more devices where you’ll apply this policy.
  3. Click save.
