Scrut Automation and JumpCloud Partner to Connect Identity Security and Compliance for Stronger Governance

Scrut Automation helps organizations manage risk and demonstrate compliance. In conversations with growing businesses, its team identified a recurring challenge: as people, devices, and applications multiplied,  IT teams needed a reliable way to keep access secure and aligned with their security requirements.

JumpCloud and Scrut address that challenge from complementary sides.

With identity and device information flowing from JumpCloud into Scrut through daily refreshes, teams can identify compliance gaps that could expose company information and coordinate corrective action during everyday operations. This helps organizations strengthen identity governance and maintain continuous compliance as they grow, while building the evidence needed for security reviews and audits.

Most growing companies don’t have separate teams for security and compliance. It’s often the same few people keeping everything running. As businesses scale, managing devices and maintaining visibility into their security posture becomes increasingly important. That’s where our partnership with JumpCloud comes in. By bringing device management into the compliance picture, we’re helping teams reduce manual effort, maintain better oversight, and stay ahead of risks as they grow.

The Challenge: Helping Customers Establish Controls and Demonstrate Compliance

For the customers Scrut serves, maintaining compliance with frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 requires ongoing attention to how identities, access, and devices are managed.

Teams need to demonstrate that departing employees’ access has been revoked, MFA is enforced, and devices are encrypted. They also need to check that these safeguards continue to meet their requirements as the business changes.

When information is fragmented or tracked manually, gaps can go unnoticed. A spreadsheet may record a laptop as encrypted even though its configuration has changed. A departing employee’s account may remain active because an offboarding step was missed.

For  IT teams juggling security and compliance with daily operations, reconciling those records adds work and can delay investigation of the underlying risks.

The Decision: Choosing a Partner with Complementary Capabilities

An initial meeting between JumpCloud CEO Rajat Bhargava and Scrut CEO Aayush Ghosh Choudhury opened the door to collaboration.

Connecting the platforms would let those teams assess identity and endpoint safeguards against their compliance requirements through one integration, rather than assemble the information from several separate tools.

When you’re building a company, every new hire, device, and application adds another layer of access to manage. The team responsible for keeping that access secure is often the same team handling compliance, and they’re already stretched. That’s why partnering with JumpCloud made sense to us. We want to help customers make security and continuous compliance part of how they run the business, so they can grow without letting access gaps turn into security debt.

The Solution: Connecting Identity and Device Management with Continuous Compliance

Keeping Identity Governance Aligned with Workforce Changes

Joiners, role changes, and departures can all change an organization’s access requirements. Users, groups, and workforce changes sync from JumpCloud into Scrut through daily refreshes, giving compliance owners updated identity information to assess against their control requirements.

Scrut’s automated checks help identify JumpCloud accounts that do not map to employee records or remain active for employees recorded as departed. IT can investigate these exceptions and determine whether access should be changed or revoked, helping reduce the risk of orphaned accounts and unauthorized access.

Keeping Access Controls Aligned with Security Requirements

An access control policy defines requirements such as enforcing MFA and removing access when an employee leaves. JumpCloud enables IT teams to implement those safeguards, while Scrut uses integration data to assess whether the associated compliance control requirements are being met.

For offboarding, IT suspends or removes the departing employee’s account in JumpCloud. On its next refresh, Scrut receives the updated account status and checks whether the employee’s JumpCloud account has been deprovisioned. The compliance owner reviews any exceptions and works with IT to resolve them.

These checks support ongoing access governance and retain evidence for relevant requirements in frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

Keeping Endpoint Security Aligned with Compliance Requirements

Identity protection also depends on the endpoints used to access company systems. JumpCloud manages Windows, macOS, and Linux devices, while Scrut collects relevant device information, including disk encryption settings and antivirus status, to assess the associated compliance controls.

For example, a security policy may require encryption on company laptops. IT manages encryption through JumpCloud, and Scrut uses the available device data to check whether the requirement is being met. An exception gives the team a configuration gap to investigate and remediate.

Connecting identity and endpoint information through one integration reduces manual reconciliation and helps teams maintain compliance oversight alongside everyday IT operations.

The Impact: Stronger Governance with Less Manual Overhead

The value is a closer connection between security operations and compliance oversight. Identity and device changes become part of an ongoing review process, helping teams address control gaps while reducing duplicate work.

Less Manual Coordination Between IT and Compliance

With relevant operational data available in Scrut, compliance owners have a clearer starting point for reviewing controls and discussing exceptions with IT. Teams spend less time rebuilding inventories through exports and reconciling records across separate systems.

In practice, that removes the tasks that usually fill the weeks leading up to an audit. Teams stop exporting user lists, screenshotting MFA and encryption settings, and reconciling departure dates against access records.

Earlier Visibility into Access and Device Risks

Connected information and automated checks can help teams identify exceptions and investigate them between audits.

A common example involves accounts that outlive the work they were created for. A contractor finishes a project, but their JumpCloud account stays active because no one filed an offboarding request. JumpCloud supplies the current list of users and their status. Scrut’s automated test flags the account because it no longer maps to a current team member. The IT team reviews the account in JumpCloud and suspends it the same day. Without the check, that account would likely have surfaced as an exception during audit fieldwork.

More Efficient Security Reviews and Audit Preparation

As teams maintain and monitor identity and device safeguards, they build evidence of how those safeguards meet compliance requirements. Scrut brings the relevant records and check results together, helping teams review exceptions and respond to security reviews and audits with less manual reconstruction.

Audit readiness follows from the security work teams do every day, reducing the need for a separate preparation effort.

Looking Ahead: Building on the Partnership

As customers adopt AI tools and agents, identity governance must account for more than employee access. Organizations need to understand which systems those agents can reach, how they are being used, and which controls apply.

The broader JumpCloud and Scrut partnership narrative addresses that need from both sides. JumpCloud supports identity management for human, non-human, and agentic identities. Scrut helps organizations classify AI agents and their usage and establish AI-specific controls informed by frameworks such as ISO 42001 and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.

Both platforms also use AI to support operational work. JumpCloud applies AI to routine IT tasks, while Scrut uses AI agents to provide contextual guidance for drafting policies, scoping controls, managing risks, and assessing gaps. These capabilities extend the partnership’s focus on helping teams manage security and compliance as their environments grow.

AI adoption is bringing a new set of access decisions into the business. Teams need to understand what an agent can reach, who is accountable for it, and what safeguards should apply. As we build on this partnership, we want to help customers bring that discipline into their AI adoption from the start.
