ICS Compute is an IT consulting and services firm specializing in cloud computing, generative AI, and cybersecurity. Established in 2017 in Jakarta, Indonesia, the organization has become a trusted partner for over 400 companies, providing tailored solutions that modernize applications, secure infrastructures, and leverage GenAI. With a team of 100-plus employees, ICS Compute has successfully migrated more than 300 workloads to the cloud and continues to deliver scalable and secure tech solutions. As one of AWS’ key partners in Indonesia, ICS Compute is committed to helping businesses stay ahead in an ever-evolving technology landscape.
Needing a solution for identity, device & access management
As a relatively new IT consultancy that has grown organically over the last few years, ICS Compute didn’t have a directory service or any mechanism for managing company devices. At the same time, ICS manages a ton of customer accounts in AWS, and employees didn’t have an easy way to access all of them.
“We needed an SSO solution for our internal team for both our environment and our customers’ environments,” says Ahmad Faiz, professional service manager at ICS. “We also needed a directory service and wanted to manage our company’s laptops more effectively; we didn’t have an easy way to manage apps, endpoint security, firewalls, and so on.”
While ICS Compute employees primarily use Windows machines, the company does have some Mac and Linux devices as well.
“We were looking for a centralized solution that enabled us to manage all different operating systems from one place,” Faiz continues.
Choosing feature-rich JumpCloud to solve all of these problems
While researching their options, the ICS Compute team found JumpCloud, a unified identity, device, and access management platform that works across operating systems.
“JumpCloud can not only manage Windows machines but also Mac and Linux,” Faiz says. “With JumpCloud, we could create a security baseline for all different operating systems.”
Liking what they saw, ICS Compute — now a JumpCloud partner — decided to invest in JumpCloud to shore up their internal IT environment. Looking ahead, the company plans to resell JumpCloud to its customers while also offering three types of managed services: ICS Access Management, ICS Identity and Device Management, and ICS Workforce Management, which combines the first two.
“We use JumpCould to manage our own team and we plan to leverage the solution to manage customer environments in the cloud as well,” Faiz says.
Strengthening security & continuing to leverage more and more JumpCloud features
In JumpCloud, ICS Compute has found an “all-in-one platform” that gives them everything they need to manage their IT assets — along with their customers’ assets, Faiz says.
“We use it not only to manage single sign-on but also hardware, laptops, devices, operating system updates, servers, and users,” Faiz continues. “We’re also using JumpCloud Protect and much more.”
Groups
ICS Compute has set up a number of different user groups in JumpCloud, which makes it easier to grant appropriate access to the right resources for each user.
“We have a separate professional services team, finance team, and business development team, for example,” he says. “Each group is given access to specific applications; finance can’t access the same apps as the technical team and vice versa.”
Commands & policies
ICS Compute is taking advantage of JumpCloud commands and policies to strengthen their security posture and protect their networks, along with their customers’ cloud-based assets.
“We use JumpCloud commands to install endpoint security on all staff laptops,” Faiz continues. “We’re also using JumpCloud policies to enforce things like hard-disk encryption, multi-factor authentication, and minimum password requirements.”
Additionally, the company is using policies to ensure only certain groups can load apps onto their machines.
“For example, our R&D team can install everything on their laptops but legal and finance can’t install anything on their laptops,” Faiz explains.
Conditional access
The team is leveraging conditional access policies to secure resources based on certain conditions — like where a user is accessing resources from.
“If someone’s in the office, they can connect to SSO and access customers’ AWS accounts,” Faiz says. “If they’re not in the office, they need to log into a VPN before connecting to SSO.”
Password Manager
On top of all of this, ICS Computer is utilizing JumpCloud Password Manager, a feature that enables the organization to create, store, and protect user credentials locally on devices — and for Faiz and his team to centrally manage passwords through the JumpCloud interface.
“We were using a different solution before, but after we implemented JumpCloud and saw this capability, we migrated away from that and have used Password Manager ever since,” Faiz says.
Looking ahead, the team plans to further expand its JumpCloud footprint by leveraging additional features — like Cloud LDAP, zero trust, and JumpCloud Go. They’re also planning to integrate Google Workspace and JumpCloud.
“JumpCloud brings so much simplicity to your IT environment,” Faiz concludes.
