AG Layne is a California-based chemical distribution company that supports manufacturers across the United States by supplying high-purity chemicals, industrial solvents, lubricants, silicone fluids, and specialty chemical products. As the organization expanded its operations, managing secure access for a distributed workforce became increasingly complex. Employees worked across multiple locations using a mix of company-issued and personal devices. Operational teams relied heavily on Microsoft 365 and cloud applications to keep day-to-day operations moving efficiently.
In response to industry trends leaning heavily towards credential-based phishing incidents, AG Layne wanted to reinforce its security posture and modernize its approach to identity and access management. The company partnered with 96 Firm to implement a centralized, zero trust security model powered by JumpCloud.
Strengthening Security Across a Distributed Workforce
AG Layne’s environment included a combination of office employees, warehouse operators, and field drivers working across multiple states. Many users relied on BYOD devices alongside company-managed laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. This mix created challenges around visibility, access management, and consistent security enforcement.
At the same time, the company was navigating organizational growth after acquiring another business, a move that added new users and operational complexity to the environment.
When we first started working with AG Layne, the conversation immediately centered around security and identity protection. They wanted a way to reduce credential-related risk while still making technology easy for employees working in the field.

Implementing a Zero Trust Security Model
96 Firm introduced AG Layne to JumpCloud’s cloud-based identity and device management platform. The MSP team demonstrated how centralized identity, single sign-on (SSO), and conditional access policies could help strengthen AG Layne’s security posture without adding operational friction.
Using JumpCloud as the organization’s central identity platform, 96 Firm deployed a unified environment supporting:
- Conditional access policies tied to trusted devices
- Secure onboarding workflows for field and warehouse employees
- Microsoft 365 and SaaS authentication management
- Cloud RADIUS for warehouse Wi-Fi security
- Centralized identity and device oversight across locations
Today, employees can securely access company applications from approved devices while administrators maintain centralized visibility and control over authentication and access management.
Following continuous phishing attempts that are industry wide, we needed a more consistent and secure way to proactively manage identities, devices, and access across the organization. 96 Firm and JumpCloud helped us strengthen security controls while keeping the experience simple for employees working across warehouses, offices, and field operations.

Securing Field Employees
Supporting employees working outside of traditional office environments presented one of AG Layne’s biggest operational challenges. Many field workers needed fast access to company resources but had limited experience with IT systems and password management workflows.
Using JumpCloud’s Zero-Touch enrollment and conditional access policies, 96 Firm simplified onboarding for distributed employees while maintaining consistent security standards across the organization. New users can now securely access business applications within minutes, whether they are working from a warehouse, on the road, or from a corporate office.
Conditional access policies further strengthened security and restricted access to company resources only via trusted devices. This allowed the IT team to support both personal and company-managed devices while improving visibility and control over user access.
AG Layne also centralized the management of Microsoft 365 and connected SaaS applications through JumpCloud’s identity connectors. This gave administrators improved oversight into application access and reduced reliance on disconnected identity tools.
Consolidating Security and IT Operations
By consolidating identity management, device oversight, and authentication workflows into a single platform, AG Layne improved overall efficiency while strengthening security controls across the business.
Consolidating on JumpCloud helped the company reduce operational costs by approximately 30% compared to maintaining fragmented solutions separately. The improved security posture also supports the organization’s cyber insurance and compliance requirements.
Building for Future Growth
For AG Layne, the partnership with JumpCloud has evolved into a strategic relationship focused on long-term scalability and operational growth.
Standardizing on JumpCloud gave us a more centralized and scalable approach to managing user access across the business. Combined with 96 Firm’s support, we now have greater visibility into our environment and a stronger operational foundation as we continue to grow.
—AG Layne
Looking ahead, the company plans to integrate its HR platform with JumpCloud to automate identity lifecycle management and onboarding workflows. With a centralized identity foundation in place, AG Layne remains perfectly positioned to scale its operations while maintaining strong security standards.
