Create a Wallpaper Policy for iOS/iPadOS Devices

This policy configures and enforces custom wallpapers on supervised iOS and iPadOS devices managed by JumpCloud MDM. This lets you deploy standardized, branded images to the lock screen, home screen, or both, improving security posture, device identification, and user experience. Standardized wallpapers help organizations clearly mark corporate assets, display critical contact or asset information, and restrict unauthorized user customization.

Prerequisites

  • iOS/iPadOS devices must be enrolled in Apple MDM with the following enrollment type:
    • Device-Enrolled Devices - These devices are owned by the corporation, and enrolled by the admin or by the user.
    • Auto-Enrolled Devices - These devices are owned and enrolled by the corporation through Automated Device Enrollment.
For more information, see MDM Enrollment Method. The policy applies to supervised devices only and is not supported for user-enrolled devices.
  • iOS/iPad devices must be supervised. See Understand Supervised Devices and Policies.
  • Devices must have an active network connection for this policy to take effect.

Considerations

  • On devices running iOS 16 and iPadOS 17 or later, the policy will initially update both the Lock Screen and the Home Screen simultaneously. After initial application, each location can be updated independently.
  • To use this policy you must upload one image to either the lock screen or home screen. If you don't upload an image for either the lock screen or home screen, the device will use the existing wallpaper.

Creating the Policy

To create the policy:

Important:

If your data is stored outside of the US, check which login URL you should be using depending on your region.
