JumpCloud® SaaS Management gives you visibility and control over shadow IT and SaaS app use within your org. Connectors detect shadow IT without adoption of a browser extension and provide a significant increase to the valuable usage and security insights.
The Slack Connector retrieves users lists and data from the Slack API. It captures new users via periodic polling for real-time updates. This connector also ensures data integrity and security because it is configured via OAuth with read-only permissions.
Prerequisites
- To configure the connector, you must be a Slack admin or the Slack connector application needs to be approved by an admin of your workspace.
Considerations
- Based on your organization’s size, the initial collection of data may take some time, up to an hour.
To configure the connector:
- Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal.
- Go to SECURITY MANAGEMENT > SaaS Management.
- In SaaS Management settings, go to the Connector tab and select + Add Connector.
- Select Slack and click Connect.
- Enter a name and click Connect.
- Follow the redirect prompt from Slack by clicking Submit.
- You will now see Slack in your list of Connectors.
If permissions are accidentally removed, or if the admin who configured left your organization, the connector will stop working and you will be prompted to Reconnect.
Required Permissions
- View people in your workspace: Allows JumpCloud to list the users in your Slack workspace
- View email addresses of people in your workspace: Allows JumpCloud to identify and associate your Slack users with your JumpCloud users
Uninstall/Remove
- On the Connector’s detail page, click on Delete Connector and follow the prompts.
- To remove in Slack, follow the instructions on Slack’s Help Center.
