SaaS Management: GitLab Connector

JumpCloud® SaaS Management gives you visibility and control over shadow IT and SaaS app use within your org. Connectors detect shadow IT without adoption of a browser extension and provide a significant increase to the valuable usage and security insights.

The GitLab Connector retrieves users lists and data from the GitLab API, enabling seamless integration with third-party apps authenticated via GitLab credentials. It captures new users and login events via periodic polling for real-time updates. This connector also ensures data integrity and security because it is configured via OAuth with read-only permissions.

Prerequisites

  • To configure the connector, you must have a GitLab account.

Considerations

  • Based on your organization’s size, the initial collection of data may take some time, up to an hour.
  • GitLab doesn’t reveal emails for users through APIs and can’t be matched to the username. We collect the GitLab username as a unique identifier for GitLab users.

To configure the connector:

  1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal.
  2. Go to SECURITY MANAGEMENT > SaaS Management.
  3. In SaaS Management settings, go to the Connector tab and select + Add Connector.
  1. Select GitLab and click Connect
  2. Enter a name and click Connect.
  3. Follow the redirect prompt from GitLab by clicking Allow.
  4. Enter your GitLab credentials and Sign In.
  5. Click Authorize to grant JumpCloud access.
  6. You’ll see GitLab in your list of Connectors.

Note:

If permissions are accidentally removed, or if the admin who configured left your organization, the connector will stop working and you will be prompted to Reconnect.

Required Permissions

  • Read Api: Allows JumpCloud to list the users and groups that are visible for the connected GitLab account.

Uninstall/Remove

  • On the Connector’s detail page, click on Delete Connector and follow the prompts.
  • To revoke the permissions granted to JumpCloud, go to GitLab > Preferences > Applications and revoke the permissions for JumpCloud.
