Connect Apps Using Bookmarks

Use Application Bookmarks to connect users to resources that don’t support SAML Single Sign On (SSO), like LDAP-based applications, the company intranet, applications serviced through a password manager, and services connected to JumpCloud through directory integrations, like G suite, Microsoft Office 365, or Active Directory. This is one way to communicate to your users all the resources they have access to, including those using their JumpCloud password.

Considerations:

  • Users are implicitly denied access to applications. After you configure an application bookmark in JumpCloud, you have to determine which users should have access to that bookmark application.

Configuring a Bookmark

To connect an application using Bookmarks:

  1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal: https://console.jumpcloud.com.
  2. Go to USER AUTHENTICATION > SSO.
  3. Click ( + ) to configure a new application.
  4. Click URL Bookmark at the bottom, then click configure.
    • Tip: You can also find the Bookmarks connector by searching for it.
  5. Enter a Display Label.
    • Users will see this display name for the bookmark in their User Portal, and Administrators will see it in the Configured Applications list view on the SSO page.
  6. We recommend providing information in the Description field to let users know what the Bookmark is, and how to access it.
  7. Select a Display Option, then enter an application url.
    • You can select a color, use our default Bookmark logo, or upload your own logo.
  8. Paste the Application URL under the Bookmark Configuration
  9. Click activate
  10. After an Application Bookmark is configured, you can find it in the Configured Applications list view by looking for the Bookmark label under Supported Functionality.
  11. After the application is saved, it appears in the SSO Configured Applications list.

Giving Users Access to a Bookmark:

To give users access to the bookmark from the Application Configuration panel:

  1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal: https://console.jumpcloud.com.
  2. Go to USER AUTHENTICATION > SSO.
  3. In the Applications list, select the bookmarked application you want to give users access to.
  4. Select the User Groups tab.
  5. Select which users you want to give access to, and click save.

User Experience

The user experience to access an Application Bookmark:

  1. The user logs in to their User Portal: https://console.jumpcloud.com.
  2. The user finds an application with a bookmark symbol in the left corner, then clicks it.
  3. This launches the application.
    • Note: Users may need to take additional authentication steps with Bookmarks. Use the Description to give users additional information on how to authenticate to a Bookmark.
