OneLogin is one of the leading Web application Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions on the market. At JumpCloud, a number of our customers use OneLogin for their Web application SSO needs.
Today, we’re happy to be able to tell our customers that they can now integrate JumpCloud with OneLogin for a true SSO solution.
What We Do at JumpCloud
Many organizations tie their SSO solution to their directory — generally Active Directory or LDAP. For companies that don’t have a directory, though, what do they do?
That’s one way the integration with JumpCloud comes in handy. JumpCloud is a full cloud-based directory services solution. JumpCloud’s next generation Directory-as-a-Service is reimagining AD and LDAP.
JumpCloud stores users in its cloud-based directory and then connects those users to the IT resources they need. These IT resources can include their computing device (laptop or desktop), their servers (cloud-based or on-premise), and internal and external applications. Now, thanks to integration with OneLogin, we also connect users to their Web-based applications with Single Sign-on functionality.
Two Approaches to DaaS
JumpCloud’s DaaS solution can be employed in two major ways.
The first is that JumpCloud can be your central, authoritative directory solution. In this case, it acts as your replacement to AD or LDAP, but it is SaaS-based. As a hosted directory service, IT admins don’t have to manage hardware or software and can just focus on getting their users what they need. This approach is much easier than running your own directory on-premises.
The second scenario is if an organization already has Active Directory. In this case, JumpCloud can act as the extension to AD, covering the devices and applications that AD administrators have a difficult time connecting to (including Macs, Linux devices, and numerous applications). Of course, this now includes extending to OneLogin.
Benefits of OneLogin Integration
The benefit of connecting OneLogin to JumpCloud’s Directory-as-a-Service is that it simplifies an IT admin’s work load.
By having a central directory, IT can control user access in one place. Adding, deleting, and changing access rights happens in one spot rather than on each device, in each application, and within the SSO solution. Simply make your changes in JumpCloud and the changes propagate through to OneLogin and elsewhere.
This ensures that a terminated user does not have a backdoor to your data or applications. It’s important not only for security reasons, but also for compliance with security standards.
