James Brown, our Chief Experience Officer, has a provocative piece up at Wired talking about how IaaS providers are effectively encroaching on PaaS territory. With so many new services being introduced by folks like AWS, Rackspace, and SoftLayer that help make developers’ lives easier, they are are starting to look a bit like the PaaS guys. What do you think? Do you think that IaaS and PaaS are merging? We see this somewhat in the cloud-based directory services space where IaaS providers are viewing this as an add-on service. Of course, those Identity-as-a-Service offerings are designed for within the walls of the cloud provider. It’s an interesting example of how Directory-as-a-Service® can become an add-on service to cloud infrastructure.
