Have you ever wanted to increase the automation of your administrative tasks so you could kill some of those repetitive tickets that you get? You’re in luck, because that’s just what we had in mind when we created the new JumpCloud PowerShell Module. This module enables admins to automate many of their common administrative tasks, including:

  • Creating and removing JumpCloud users
  • Resetting a JumpCloud user password
  • Disabling and enabling JumpCloud accounts
  • … and many more!

If you think that your ticket list could benefit from some automation, make sure you check out our guide on how to install it. In the video below, JumpCloud’s Senior Support Engineer Scott Reed gives a detailed guide showing how you can have the module running on Windows machines in a matter of minutes.

The best part about the module is that it isn’t restricted to Windows devices. If you want to see how you can install the JumpCloud PowerShell Module on Mac or Linux, you can find the Mac install guide and Linux install guide here.

How to Use JumpCloud’s PowerShell Module

Once you have the module installed, what’s next? What is the module, and what is it capable of? Essentially, JumpCloud’s PowerShell Module acts as a set of PowerShell commands. These commands can be used to interact with the JumpCloud directory in a more programmatic way, enabling the automation that admins are looking for. You can find a great example of this in our video detailing how you can automate user importing.

This automation is able to happen because the module acts as a sort of wrapper for the JumpCloud API. This wrapping allows communication with the API using the Invoke-RestMethod command over HTTPS. With this setup, you simply need to run the pre-written commands in the module on the terminal.

But what if I don’t have any programming experience? Fear not, the PowerShell module actually requires no programming knowledge at all. Due to the verb-noun naming convention, you can easily learn and execute various commands on the Command Prompt.

Learn More With the PowerShell Webinar

To help admins learn more about how PowerShell modules can benefit their organizations, we are going to be putting on a webinar on the topic. Scott Reed, who created the JumpCloud PowerShell Module, will give a presentation with SpiceWorks on how to use PowerShell with AWS, SendGrid, and other SaaS apps. Make sure you sign up for the webinar and learn how you can kill your repetitive tickets with ease.
