New Server Ops and Security Solution for User Management

San Francisco, CA – September 11, 2013 – JumpCloud®, the first Directory-as-a-Service® platform, launched today at the TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield competition in San Francisco before an audience of thousands. Co-founders Rajat Bhargava and David Campbell unveiled a new SaaS-based solution that was designed from the ground-up for DevOps and IT pros. The new software automates many of the more tedious and overly time-consuming tasks of maintaining, monitoring, and securing cloud servers, including such issues as user management, admin activity monitoring, and configuration assessment.

JumpCloud easily deploys in minutes and requires no configuration or tuning. By executing one command or integrating with Chef or Puppet, DevOps and IT pros can ensure every server is fast, efficient, and secure. JumpCloud quickly identifies and monitors every user across multiple servers, ensures patches are up-to-date and configurations are correct, manages SSH keys, and implements multi-factor authentication.

JumpCloud also effectively serves as a security plug-in for cloud server management. The practical security solution constantly monitors company server instances and equips IT with real-time awareness of performance issues related to a potential compromise, data security analytics, and actionable remediation to security problems.

“It can take IT admins up to thirty minutes alone to get one user up and running on five servers – and that’s only if everything goes right. Using JumpCloud, that exact same process can be completed in as little as two minutes. That’s just one example of many. With hundreds or thousands of servers or users, DevOps pros are spending tremendous time on tedious, mundane tasks,” said David Campbell, the co-founder and CEO of JumpCloud. “As DevOps people ourselves, we value solutions that automate typically complex and time consuming processes so that we can stay on top of what matters most. JumpCloud fits that to a T.

Freeing DevOps and IT Admins from the Burden of Server Ops and Security:

  • JumpCloud picks up where Chef and Puppet leave off after servers are provisioned and configured — and we do it faster, better, and cheaper.
  • JumpCloud does the heavy lifting by automating previously complex operations and security processes.
  • A simple, concise nightly email informs IT of the critical issues that need to be handled or remediated immediately.
  • JumpCloud plays nicely with hosting providers and works in virtually any Linux server in any IaaS provider.
  • Monitors performance for indicators of security compromise.

Initially self-funded and then subsequently backed by the Foundry Group and Bullet Time Ventures, JumpCloud founders include a highly skilled and seasoned team of DevOps and security experts, including Chairman Rajat Bhargava, CEO David Campbell, CTO KC Berg and VP of Engineering Christopher Marie. To start, JumpCloud will sell direct to small and medium sized enterprises, as well as through channel partnerships with cloud and hosting providers.
