Our Directory-as-a-Service® product team has been cranking out the updates, and we’re psyched to start the new year slightly “ahead” of where we thought we’d be with our platform capabilities. The team is, of course, continuing to rapidly put out new functionality for our cloud-based directory services platform — most of which has been a direct request from our customer base and free users. It’s important to note here that we run a DevOps shop internally, so we’re leveraging Agile as well as automation in our operations group, too. We actually use the stuff we create, and this firsthand knowledge and experience allows us to push out new and better capabilities pretty quickly. Here are some highlights of new functionality:
Temporary Server Access
A popular request from our users was to enable temporary, time-based access. This is great for contractors, third parties, and even internal folks that need to have access to a system for a limited time. We now have it, and it’s a great way to keep control of the system but enable access. In addition, you only have to do something once which means there is no chance of forgetting that you gave somebody access and then leaving the account enabled or changing passwords after because you gave them the root password. All access is logged as well, so you’ll know if they were on, how long they were on, and what they did! This feature alone is going to save our customers boatloads of time and headaches.
Another popular request was to provide access to our data for customers. Many users have told us that they would like to have the user login data to create custom reports and to export it to SIEM tools and other log management solutions. We give you all of your data via simple to use APIs.
Self-Service Portal Customization
We’re making it even easier for you to give your users access to the IT resources they need. Now you can customize the emails that are sent to them when granting them access. They’ll know it’s coming from you, and you can customize the instructions if you like. This is just one way to make the system feel more a part of your company.
