Your organization is ready to take the leap to the cloud with your Identity and Access Management (IAM) system. It’s a big step, but you are ready for it. Your environment is like any other modern office: heterogenous, using cloud-based apps, and has a need to meet compliance requirements. Lumeon had this same checklist when they discovered JumpCloud’s Cloud IAM solution.
Based out of Boston and London, Lumeon is a pioneering digital healthcare company that enables healthcare providers to orchestrate and automate their own end-to-end workflows that close gaps in care and lower delivery costs. The company has developed a pioneering new methodology – Care Pathway Management (CPM) – and counts Bupa, HCA, Synexus and Alliance Medical amongst its clients.
David Johnson is Lumeon’s Information Security & Governance Lead. David has the task of ensuring Lumeon has a functioning Information Security Management System (ISMS) for the business, and all security requirements are met for their product and environment.
David sat down with us for a quick interview, and shared his experience with how leveraging JumpCloud has simplified app integration, satisfied compliance needs, and secured system, network, and infrastructure access.
Customer Story: Lumeon
What systems and applications are you using? How has it been to integrate them with JumpCloud?
David: So far we have integrated JumpCloud with Office 365 and use that to allow access to the different AWS environments. We use the RADIUS server as a replacement for shared key WiFi, and I’m now in the process of creating a SSO environment. We also have an LDAP server.
How has JumpCloud helped you with compliance?
David: Ahead of the launch of our Care Pathway Management platform into the US market earlier this year, we needed to make sure we could build a HIPAA compliant environment in AWS. We like to offer our staff flexibility and choice when it comes to the devices they use to do their work. With multiple teams around the world using various operating systems across Mac, PCs etc. we needed an easy way to manage access permissions for our environment.
How has JumpCloud simplified user access?
David: All employees have an Office 365 account, and by using JumpCloud, we could easily put users into different groups to allow/deny access to the AWS environment in order to comply with HIPAA. As mentioned earlier, We also use a variety of operating systems, and since JumpCloud is platform agnostic, managing those systems has also been a lot simpler.
What reservations did you have about JumpCloud at the onset, if any? Did you consider any alternatives?
David: We did look at other systems, but as a rapidly growing company we needed a solution that was quick to implement and would adapt to our future requirements. Once I’d found and learnt more about JumpCloud I knew it would be right for us.
How do you think that the JumpCloud model compares to Azure?
David: We use Office 365 so there are inbuilt functions we could use with Azure that would help us create an Active Directory similar to JumpCloud. However, it is slower and harder to manage and would have required more work on our side to create. A SaaS product, such as Jumpcloud, that does all the work for us was a logical choice.
