Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Braun, knows having a safe and efficient IT infrastructure is crucial in order to lead safe and efficient rescue missions. Braun also knew that manual Mac management was not sustainable in the long run. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and Kilimanjaro SAR?
Ivan: I am the CEO and founder of Kilimanjaro SAR. I am originally from Denmark, but now I live in Tanzania and am working on turning Kilimanjaro into the safest tourist destination in Africa. I have been an entrepreneur my entire life since I started my first business at age 13. I also climbed my first mountain at age 13. Ever since, have I been frustrated at times because, when I’m back in my business ventures taking care of business, I’m dreaming of being out in the mountains. Then, when I find myself in the mountains, I end up dreaming of taking care of business. Kilimanjaro SAR is a unique blend of both worlds and suits me like a glove.
In addition to being the CEO and founder of the company, I am also personally handling our local IT environment. This is mostly due to lack of skilled and experienced IT personnel in this particular region of Tanzania.
What challenges were you hoping to solve with a directory service?
Ivan: I discovered JumpCloud in a Google search. I was searching for a safe, fast, and smart way to manage a mixed environment of PC’s and Macs and integrate with Office 365. I also wanted something easy to setup and maintain.
How were you managing Macs before JumpCloud?
Ivan: Ha! You don’t wanna know! I was working the “old school” hands-on way.
How has JumpCloud improved Mac management in your environment?
Ivan: Dramatically. It’s easy and a bliss to setup and maintain.
Are you planning to use JumpCloud for anything else? (e.g. RADIUS, LDAP, G Suite etc…)
Ivan: We are a startup and will likely grow to be more than 50 staff members, so yes, we will be looking into additional services.
