We recently caught up with Justin Johnson about what it’s like to work as Senior Manager of Global Customer Support at JumpCloud.
When did you start working at JumpCloud? December 2018.
Can you run us through a day in the life of your role at JumpCloud? In my 3+ years at JumpCloud I’ve never actually had a “typical” day. In a nutshell, I always want to work toward creating a world-class experience for our customers who engage with Support. Whether it’s making sure we have the right people, tools, process, or vision in place, or jumping on the phone directly with a customer, I never want to lose sight of how I can help customers be successful with JumpCloud. See fire, run toward fire. 🙂
How have you grown as an individual since starting at the company? JumpCloud is, without question, a special place. Working in such a fast-paced environment has taught me how to prioritize and constantly evaluate the way we spend our time. The variety of our customers’ environments and seeing how JumpCloud can integrate into a seemingly endless amount of technologies has leveled up my understanding of a modern day IT environment. I am incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such talented, creative, and driven people, our customers included. I’ve never had a day at JumpCloud where I haven’t learned something, and that is pretty neat.

If I ever do get a face tattoo, this is a front-runner. The platform has exploded in feature and functionality since 2018. As a Support organization, we have to quite literally get 1% better every day to ensure we have the ability to help our customers with any questions they may have. To see an entire organization work at this is pretty neat to see day in and day out.
What is something that you have accomplished at JumpCloud that you are proud of? I’m proud of the role I played in helping to roll out the first 24×7 team in JumpCloud. Having Support teams in time zones that are convenient for our customers was a big step in the evolution of Customer Support. With a few trips to different countries we were able to build some global connections to better serve our customers.
What keeps you energized about working at JumpCloud? Seeing folks realize their potential in their current roles or taking that next step in their career – I’m not sure I’ll ever get tired of seeing people grow.
What do you like to do on your days off? I love to cook, golf, see live music, play hoops, fly fish, travel, read/watch sci fi, and spend time with friends and family.
What advice do you have for prospective JumpCloud candidates? Embrace change and never lose sight of the 1% better every day mentality.
What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it? I’m on my second take of reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Everyone should experience the OASIS at least once!
What’s something you plan to do in the next year that you’ve never done? I’m traveling to the Galapagos Islands next month. It’s been on my bucket list ever since I learned about them as a kid.
What is your 15 minutes of fame? Probably some print coverage in the Dayton Daily News.
If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Street tacos.
