It’s that time of the year again where we take ourselves away from our desks for a while and relax. This spare time may give you a little time to yourself. What I find is a great way to gently while away the hours is to listen to MSP-focused podcasts. (Yes, really!)

With that in mind, I’ve created a short list of my favorites. And if for some odd reason you aren’t wanting to listen to MSP stuff, I added a couple of non-MSP focused podcasts that I enjoy.

It’s not an exhaustive list., If you want a more in-depth list then check out Jay McBain’s great list of the Top 100 Channel Podcasts of 2021.

Tubbtalk

This long running MSP podcast is produced by my good friend Richard Tubb so it would be remiss of me not to have it in the list. Richard has been in the MSP space for almost as long as me and he really knows his onions. Actually, I don’t know if he knows his onions or not, I must ask him one day.

There are over 100 episodes to enjoy, including one featuring me. The rest feature real experts from the MSP field and will give you some great insights.

As with all the Podcasts on the list, you can find them in your favorite Podcast app or by heading over to the TubbTalk website.

SMB Community Podcast

I’m sure this podcast will need no introduction, although I’m sure that the hosts Amy Babinchak, James Kernan, and Karl W. Palachuk deliver a great one each time. After all, they have had some practice, this podcast has been going since 2012. In a recent episode they speak to a colleague of mine at JumpCloud, Chase Doelling, which is a very interesting listen.

That’s not the only reason I selected this though, there is a wide variety of guests that bring these 30 minute episodes to life.

You can access the Podcast and the huge back catalog on the SMB Community Podcast website.

Paul Green’s MSP Marketing Podcast

British MSP Marketing expert Paul Green always delivers a top notch podcast full of special guests but most importantly, real life tips for improving the marketing of your MSP.

You can find all of the episodes on his website.

The Business of Tech

Host Dave Sobel delivers one of the most informative news podcasts and he does it almost daily. This really highlights some of the breaking news, but Dave also goes deeper into some topics. This includes diversity in the IT industry – something that Dave is really passionate about improving.

These short impactful podcasts are really useful and you check them out on the Business of Tech website.

IT4Whiskey

Interested in MSPs and Whiskey? If so, this could be the very spot for you. Some great topics that are super relevant for MSPs and also plenty of information about whiskey.

Grab a glass and head over to the IT4Whiskey website.

Smashing Security

The final IT focused podcast for this list is Smashing Security. This is a very funny show and really well delivered by security veterans Graham Cluley and Carole Theriault with special guests. It’s always topical, uncovers some great stories and most of all is good fun.

Have a listen at Smashing Security.

Now, that work’s out of the way. Let’s look at a couple of other podcasts I really enjoy.

No Such Thing as a Fish

No Such Thing As A Fish podcast cover

This is my go to podcast, my absolute favorite. It’s a great way to learn some amazing facts.

The name of the show was actually a fact in the also brilliant BBC TV series, QI where Jay Gould – a fish biologist – concluded, after many years of studying, that there is no such thing as a fish. He reasoned that although there are many sea creatures, most of them are not closely related to each other. For example, a salmon is more closely related to a camel than it is to a hagfish.

This is typical of the type of fact you will hear 🙂

More of Less : Behind the stats

More or Less: Behind the stats podcast cover

I love this show, it airs in the UK on BBC Radio 4 but is also available as a Podcast. The aim is to look at stats that have been used and check if they are true or not. It’s sometimes funny, sometimes serious but always a great listen.

Finally, and back to MSPs, it would be a great shame if I didn’t mention Tate Talks. It’s been a while since I recorded an episode, but if I were you I’d check that you are currently subscribed as, wink wink, there may be something new coming very soon.

So, what did I miss? This was only a fraction of the shows I listen to and I know there are many more that I could also subscribe to. Got any gems? If so, let me know and so please share your suggestions on the JumpCloud Community.
