You can also control who can unlock a device that has gone through an untrusted factory reset. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card warning\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/warning-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Warning:<\/strong> \n<p>A factory reset removes all data from the device.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prerequisites<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>JumpCloud\u2019s Android EMM has to be configured for your org. See <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/set-up-android-emm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Set up Android EMM<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your Android devices have to be enrolled in EMM. See <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/add-and-manage-android-devices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Add and Manage Android Devices<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/users-enroll-your-personal-android-device\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Users: Enroll Your Personal Android Device<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This policy works for fully managed and dedicated devices running Android 5.1 and later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To create an Android Factory Reset Protection policy:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT &gt; Policy Management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>All<\/strong> tab, click (<strong>+<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the New Policy panel, select the <strong>Android<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Factory Reset Protection policy from the list, then click <strong>configure<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) On the New Policy panel, enter a new name for the policy, or keep the default. Policy names must be unique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For<strong> Policy Notes<\/strong>, enter details like when you created the policy, where you tested it, and where you deployed it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <strong>Settings<\/strong>, complete these fields:\n<ol class=\"is-lower-alpha\">\n<li>Select <strong>Disable Factory Reset<\/strong> to prevent factory resetting fully managed and dedicated devices from the device settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <strong>Factory Reset Protection, <\/strong>determine if verification is required to unlock a device after it has gone through an untrusted factory reset.\n<ul>\n<li>Select <strong>Require Verification<\/strong> to require users to perform account verification via a new Google Admin account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Disable Verification<\/strong> to skip Google account verification and not provide factory reset protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If<strong> Require Verification<\/strong> is selected in the previous step, click <strong>Add Email<\/strong> under <strong>Google Account Email <\/strong>to enter the Google email addresses of IT admins. Select one or more device groups where you will apply this policy.
