Integrate your JumpCloud account with Salesforce through an Identity Management Connector. After you connect JumpCloud with Salesforce, you can provision, update, and deprovision users and groups from JumpCloud and manually import users from&nbsp;Salesforce into JumpCloud.&nbsp;Leverage this integration for centralized user lifecycle management and get immediate attribute management of users bound to integrated applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read this article to learn how to configure the Salesforce SSO integration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prerequisites<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A JumpCloud administrator account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>JumpCloud SSO Package or higher or SSO \u00e0 la carte option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Salesforce user account with administrative permissions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your Salesforce domain name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Just-in-time (JIT) user provisioning must be disabled or Identity Management will not work as documented. Disable JIT by going to the&nbsp;Salesforce admin console and navigating to&nbsp;<strong>SAML&nbsp;Single Sign-On Settings&nbsp;<\/strong>panel:\n<ul>\n<li>Under&nbsp;<strong>SAML Identity Type,&nbsp;<\/strong>select&nbsp;<strong>Assertion contains User&#8217;s&nbsp;salesforce.com&nbsp;username<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under&nbsp;<strong>Just-in-time User Provisioning<\/strong>, uncheck&nbsp;<strong>User Provisioning Enabled<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important Considerations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>SAML is the recommended method for managing secure user authentication into Salesforce. It is recommended, but not required, for the Identity Management configuration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salesforce SAML configuration details can also be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.salesforce.com\/articleView?id=sso_saml.htm&amp;type=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>. This link is valid as of April 2021.&nbsp;If there are any discrepancies between &#8216;Configure the Service Provider&#8217; below and Salesforce&#8217;s&nbsp; instructions, please follow the Salesforce guidance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Country\/state picklist values must be deactivated or the sync will error &#8211; see this <a href=\"https:\/\/help.salesforce.com\/s\/articleView?id=000383594&amp;type=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Salesforce article<\/a> for more information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The SCIM integration would not populate the Federation Identifier value<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are using a Sandbox version of Salesforce, you <strong>must <\/strong>use the Salesforce Sandbox connector for SCIM to work properly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you delete an integrated Salesforce application from your Applications list, the Salesforce application is removed from JumpCloud, but any previously bound users remain active in Salesforce. Additionally, these users can&#8217;t log in to Salesforce with the password they used prior to your deletion of the Salesforce application from your JumpCloud account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At this time, English is the only supported language<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Users are created with the default entitlement, Standard User. If you update the entitlement in Salesforce, JumpCloud won\u2019t overwrite it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salesforce requests users to authorize changes made to their email address that\u2019s associated with their account. This means you can\u2019t use JumpCloud\u2019s provisioning functionality to update a users email address in Salesforce.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Users are created with the \u201cnickname\u201d attribute value set to null. If you update \u201cnickname\u201d in Salesforce, JumpCloud won\u2019t overwrite it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locale and preferred language default to en_US on user creation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We don&#8217;t update the entitlements, the locale\/preferred language, nor the nickname of an existing user<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Groups are supported<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"attribute-considerations\"><strong>Attribute Considerations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A default set of attributes are managed for users. See the&nbsp;<a href=\"#attribute-mappings\">Attribute Mappings<\/a>&nbsp;section for more details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A user\u2019s JumpCloud email address is used as the <kbd>username <\/kbd>and <kbd>email <\/kbd>in Salesforce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salesforce doesn&#8217;t support the use of special characters in a username, such as\u00a0<kbd>john+doe@email.com<\/kbd><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Usernames in Salesforce must be unique<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-creating-a-new-jumpcloud-application-integration\"><strong>Creating a new JumpCloud Application Integration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to\u00a0<strong>USER AUTHENTICATION\u00a0<\/strong>&gt;\u00a0<strong>SSO<\/strong> <strong>Applications<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>+&nbsp;Add New Application<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type the name of the application in the <strong>Search <\/strong>field and select it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Display Label<\/strong>, type your name for the application. Optionally, you can enter a <strong>Description<\/strong>, adjust the User Portal Image and choose to hide or <strong>Show in User Portal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>If this is a Bookmark Application, enter your sign-in URL in the <strong>Bookmark URL<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Optionally, expand <strong>Advanced Settings<\/strong> to specify a value for the<strong> SSO IdP URL<\/strong>. If no value is entered, it will default to <kbd>https:\/\/sso.jumpcloud.com\/saml2\/&lt;applicationname&gt;<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card warning\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/warning-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Warning:<\/strong> \n<p>The <strong>SSO IdP URL<\/strong> is not editable after the application is created. You will have to delete and recreate the connector if you need to edit this field at a later time.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Click <strong>Save Application<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If successful, click:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Configure Application<\/strong> and go to the next section <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Close<\/strong> to configure your new application at a later time <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Configuring the SSO Integration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"configure-the-service-provider\">Configuration of the service provider (SP) requires multiple actions. Configuration actions should&nbsp;be completed in the order listed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To configure Salesforce<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"configure-the-service-provider\"><strong>To configure a Salesforce MyDomain<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>This is for new Salesforce setups and requires System Administrator access. Skip to the next step if this is already completed in your environment.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log into Salesforce as an Administrator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the gear icon at upper right, select&nbsp;<strong>Setup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the left-hand sidenav, navigate to&nbsp;<strong>Settings &gt; Company Settings &gt; My Domain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter a new&nbsp;<strong>My Domain Name<\/strong>&nbsp;for your Salesforce account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Check Availability<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agree to &nbsp;the Terms and Conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait for the email confirmation that your new My Domain is ready to be deployed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow the instructions in the email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the gear icon at upper right, select&nbsp;<strong>Setup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the left-hand sidenav, navigate to&nbsp;<strong>Settings &gt; Company Settings &gt; My Domain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Deploy New Domain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To generate the certificate<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log into Salesforce as an Administrator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the gear icon at upper right, select&nbsp;<strong>Setup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the left-hand sidenav, navigate to&nbsp;<strong>Settings &gt; Security &gt; Certificate and Key Management.\u200b<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Create Self-Signed Certificate and check &#8220;Create Exportable Key&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the following Label:&nbsp;<kbd>JumpCloud SAML<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave the auto-populated value Salesforce generated in the&nbsp;<strong>Unique Name<\/strong>&nbsp;field..<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Save.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Download Certificate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To enable SAML <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>From the left-hand sidenav, navigate to&nbsp;<strong>Settings &gt; Identity &gt; Single Sign-On Settings.\u200b<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Edit.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>SAML Enabled<\/strong>&nbsp;checkbox.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Save.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optionally, select the&nbsp;<strong>Make Federation ID case-insensitive<\/strong>&nbsp;checkbox.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>New.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the Name:&nbsp;<kbd>JumpCloud<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the&nbsp; API Name:&nbsp;<kbd><kbd><kbd>JumpCloud<\/kbd><\/kbd><\/kbd>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the Issuer:&nbsp;<kbd><kbd><kbd>JumpCloud<\/kbd><\/kbd><\/kbd>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the Entity Id&nbsp;&nbsp;in the following format:&nbsp;<kbd>https:\/\/YOUR_DOMAIN.TLD<\/kbd>.\n<ul>\n<li>If you have a custom domain setup, use&nbsp;<kbd>https:\/\/[customDomain].my.salesforce.com<\/kbd><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do not have a custom domain setup, use&nbsp;<kbd>https:\/\/saml.salesforce.com<\/kbd><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Choose File<\/strong>&nbsp;next to Identity Provider Certificate and upload the certificate that was downloaded in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.lightning.force.com\/lightning\/r\/Knowledge__kav\/ka06S000000tIZxQAM\/view#download-certificate\">step 8<\/a>&nbsp;of &#8216;Generate the&nbsp;Service Provider Certificate&#8217;.\n<ul>\n<li>This is a&nbsp;temporary placeholder for the JumpCloud certificate that will be created during the JumpCloud configuration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the JumpCloud connector is configured the actual cert.pem will need to be uploaded.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the dropdown menu for Request Signing Certificate, select&nbsp;<kbd>JumpCloud SAML<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the dropdown menu for Assertion Decryption Certificate, select&nbsp;<kbd>JumpCloud SAML<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave the default selections for SAML Identity Type and SAML Identity Location unless you are going to use Just-in-time User Provisioning\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"is-lower-alpha\">\n<li>If you are going to use Just-in-time User Provisioning, make the following selections. &nbsp;Note: If you are going to use the Identity Management SCIM integration, do not enable Just-in-time User provisioning.\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"is-lower-roman\">\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Assertion contains the Federation ID from the User object<\/strong>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>SAML Identity Type<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Identity is in an Attribute element<\/strong>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>SAML Identity Location<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the&nbsp;<strong>Attribute Name<\/strong>&nbsp;that will be sent in the SAML assertion, for example FederationIdentifier.<br>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>HTTP POST for Service Provider Initiated Request Binding<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the following Identity Provider Login URL:&nbsp;<kbd>https:\/\/sso.jumpcloud.com\/saml2\/salesforce<\/kbd>\n<ul>\n<li>This is the default IdP URL, but if you plan to change this value in JumpCloud in step 10 of &#8216;Configure the JumpCloud Salesforce Application&#8217;, then enter your chosen value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you will be using Just-in-time User Provisioning, do the following:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Note: If you are going to use automatic provisioning with the &nbsp;Identity Management SCIM integration in JumpCloud,&nbsp;<strong>do not enable<\/strong>&nbsp;this option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>User Provisioning Enabled<\/strong>&nbsp;checkbox.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Standard.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"18\">\n<li>Leave all other fields blank and options unselected<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once saved, on this screen, copy the&nbsp;<strong>Salesforce Login URL<\/strong>&nbsp;for later use. It will be in the form of&nbsp;<kbd>https:\/\/&lt;YOUR_DOMAIN&gt;.my.salesforce.com?sc=&lt;SOME_SPECIFIC_STRING&gt;<\/kbd>;&nbsp;or&nbsp;<kbd>https:\/\/&lt;YOUR_DOMAIN&gt;.my.salesforce.com?sc=&lt;SOME_SPECIFIC_STRING&gt;<\/kbd><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download metadata.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"configure-the-jumpcloud-sso-application\"><strong>To configure JumpCloud<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"#creating-a-new-jumpcloud-application-integration\">Create a new application<\/a>&nbsp;or select it from the&nbsp;<strong>Configured Application<\/strong>s list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>SSO&nbsp;<\/strong>tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upload the metadata file you downloaded in the Enable SAML for Salesforce section above. If you prefer to enter the information manually, do the following:\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"is-lower-alpha\">\n<li>Enter the&nbsp;<strong>IdP Entity ID<\/strong>: <kbd>JumpCloud<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the&nbsp;<strong>SP Entity ID<\/strong>&nbsp;in this format:&nbsp;<kbd>https:\/\/YOUR_DOMAIN.TLD<\/kbd>\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"is-lower-roman\">\n<li>Ensure the SP Entity ID matches the value you entered in Salesforce.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the&nbsp;<strong>ACS URL field<\/strong>, enter the URL you copied from Salesforce in &#8216;Enable SAML for Salesforce&#8217;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Upload SP Certificate<\/strong>&nbsp;and upload the JumpCloud_SAML.crt file as done in &#8216;Generate the Service Provider Certificate&#8217;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the&nbsp;<strong>IdP URL<\/strong>, either leave the default value or if &nbsp;you used a custom string in &#8216;Enable SAML for Salesforce&#8217;, enter the same value here; the IdP URL must match the value entered in Salesforce.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional attributes are required to use Just-in-Time (JIT) provisioning. In JumpCloud, JIT required attributes necessary for JIT provisioning are enabled by default.
