The cloud backup is encrypted and requires a private decryption key, stored by the admin, to restore the backup.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key Features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The backup never leaves the device in plaintext.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The decryption key is never sent in plaintext.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is never a scenario in which the cloud has access to both the encrypted backup file and also the decryption key.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Admins do not have access to the data in the backup file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>Cloud backups are enabled in the admin portal, and then available in the desktop app for Mac, Windows, and Linux. <strong>Restore From Cloud Backup<\/strong> is not available on the mobile app.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enabling Cloud Backups<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>User<\/strong> <strong>Authentication<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Password Manager<\/strong>, and go to the <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Enable Cloud Backups<\/strong> button.<br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1248\" height=\"574\" class=\"wp-image-89249\" style=\"width: 800px\" src=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/jc-pwm-cloud-backups.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/jc-pwm-cloud-backups.png 1248w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/jc-pwm-cloud-backups-300x138.png 300w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/jc-pwm-cloud-backups-1024x471.png 1024w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/jc-pwm-cloud-backups-768x353.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1248px) 100vw, 1248px\" \/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the popup modal, give the private key a name, and then click <strong>Generate Key<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the download does not happen automatically, click <strong>Download Key<\/strong>.<br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"748\" height=\"610\" class=\"wp-image-89250\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/jc-pwm-cloud-backups-download-key.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/jc-pwm-cloud-backups-download-key.png 748w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/jc-pwm-cloud-backups-download-key-300x245.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card important\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/important-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Important:<\/strong> \n<p>The admin is responsible to download and store the private key in a secure location. The data will not be accessible without the private key.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regenerating a Cloud Backup Private Key<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a private key has been created, it can be regenerated. Once this happens, the original key becomes disabled, and the new key only applies to the cloud backups going forward. When such disabled key is deleted, any older backups using that key are also deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>This is a best practice step for when keys are changing hands.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <strong>Delete Key<\/strong>, and select <strong>Delete<\/strong> again at the confirmation modal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disabling Cloud Backups<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Disabling Cloud Backups will delete all keys and all cloud backups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Click <strong>Disable Cloud Backups<\/strong> and select <strong>Disable<\/strong> at the confirmation modal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Restoring Users from Cloud Backups<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If a user requests to restore from cloud backup, the admin will see notification of that request on the <strong>Overview<\/strong> tab, the <strong>Users<\/strong> tab, and the <strong>Settings<\/strong> 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 617px) 100vw, 617px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>In the <strong>Users<\/strong> tab, a label appears under the user\u2019s name indicating the request.\n<ul>\n<li>You can select <strong>Restore from Cloud Backup<\/strong> or <strong>Reject Restore from Cloud Backup<\/strong> from the individual actions menu or from the global actions dropdown menu.<br><img <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab, a notification banner indicates the number of users who have requested restore from cloud backup.<br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"613\" height=\"396\" <strong>Review<\/strong> to see a list of the users with requests and use the selection checkboxes to Reject or Continue with the restore process.<br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"663\" <strong>Users<\/strong> and <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab, after you select to restore accounts, you have to upload the appropriate private key file.\n<ul>\n<li>If approving multiple accounts at chosen, the <strong>Restore x User Accounts<\/strong> button is activated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you reject the request, you are notified that the user will have to initiate a new
