It&#8217;s an effective method for admins who have highly unique permission sets across their users. You can configure custom attributes on individual users and\/or at the group level with Group Inherited User Attributes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prerequisites<\/strong>:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>An activated AWS SSO connector to configure AWS roles.\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>Not applicable to SSO with AWS IAM Identity Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You need to create federated roles in AWS and collect ARNs before you can configure AWS roles in JumpCloud.&nbsp;Learn more about creating federated roles and collecting ARNs in AWS <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/create-federated-roles-in-aws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Create Federated Roles in AWS<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card tip\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/tip-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Tip:<\/strong> \n<ul>\n<li>You can add and modify custom attributes with the JumpCloud PowerShell Module.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/TheJumpCloud\/support\/wiki\/Using-the-JumpCloud-PowerShell-Module#adding-and-modifying-custom-attributes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learn more here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/XT6tFj9kvsw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watch this tutorial video<\/a>&nbsp;to learn more about configuring AWS with custom user attributes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating AWS Roles with Custom User Attributes&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To configure AWS roles in JumpCloud using custom user or custom group inherited attributes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>USER AUTHENTICATION<\/strong> &gt; <strong>SSO<\/strong> <strong>Applications<\/strong>, then select the AWS connector to open the connector&#8217;s details panel.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the <strong>SSO<\/strong> tab, decide on a naming convention to represent your AWS roles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delete the pre-populated AWS role attribute in <strong>Constant Attributes<\/strong>, unless there is a role that should be available to all AWS users.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"636\" src=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/aws-iam-1024x636.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-88681\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/aws-iam-1024x636.png 1024w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/aws-iam-300x186.png 300w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/aws-iam-768x477.png 768w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/aws-iam-1536x954.png 1536w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/aws-iam-2048x1271.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>In <strong>User Attribute Mapping<\/strong>, click&nbsp;<strong>add attribute&nbsp;<\/strong>for every role you need to create.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under&nbsp;<strong>Service Provider Attribute Name<\/strong>, enter&nbsp;<kbd>https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/SAML\/Attributes\/Role<\/kbd>&nbsp;for each user attribute.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under&nbsp;<strong>JumpCloud Attribute Name<\/strong>, enter the names that represent your AWS roles.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To specify a role or multiple roles for a specific user:\n<ul>\n<li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>Users<\/strong>, then select an existing user or create a new user. Learn more about creating new users in <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/get-started-users\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Get Started: Users<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Users Details panel, go to&nbsp;<strong>Custom Attributes<\/strong>, then click&nbsp;<strong>add new custom attributes&nbsp;<\/strong>for each of the roles relevant to this user.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For&nbsp;<strong>Attribute Name<\/strong>, enter the name of one of your AWS roles that\u2019s listed on the AWS connector.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For <strong>Attribute Value<\/strong>, enter an ARN for the role and the ARN for the JumpCloud identity provider separated by a comma.&nbsp; For example:&nbsp;<kbd>arn:aws:iam::YOUR_AWS_ACCOUNT_NUMBER:role\/ROLE_NAME,arn:aws:iam::YOUR_AWS_ACCOUNT_NUMBER:saml-provider\/JumpCloud<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>The ARN will contain the account numbers of the roles. When you use dynamic user attributes to create AWS roles, all authorized users have one AWS connector displayed in their user portal.&nbsp;When a user clicks on the AWS connector, they are directed to the AWS login page that displays the accounts and roles the user has access to.
