Learn how to create and manage JumpCloud Admin accounts from the Admin Portal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considerations<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
• Admins can’t delete their own account. Only Admins with the Administrator with Billing<\/strong> role can delete existing Admin accounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
• Only Admins with the Administrator with Billing<\/strong> role can create new Admin accounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
• While not required, we recommend having a minimum of two (2) Admin accounts that have the Administrator with Billing<\/strong> role assigned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
• When creating a new Admin, API key access will be disabled by default.\n
  \n
  • Only the Admin with Billing role can enable API key access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Considerations for Free Trial Accounts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
    • You must have a password created for your free trial account in order to access your API key. JumpCloud sends an email prompting you to set up your password for your JumpCloud account after it’s created. Follow the link in the email to create your password and log in, then click your initials and\u00a0My API Key<\/strong>\u00a0to generate your API key.\n

      • If you don’t have an email to set up your password, you can log out of the Admin Portal, then click\u00a0reset password<\/strong>. Once your password is set, log back into the Admin Portal, then click your initials and\u00a0My API Key<\/strong>\u00a0to generate your API key.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Creating JumpCloud Admins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        To create a new Admin account<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. In the top-right corner, click on your initials, then click Administrators<\/strong>. This takes you to the Settings<\/strong> page, Administrators<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Click +Admin<\/strong> and select As New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

           1. Enter the Admin’s First<\/strong>* and Last Name<\/strong>*. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
           2. Enter an Administrator Email Address<\/strong>*. This has to be unique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
           3. Under Permissions<\/strong>, select a Role<\/strong>* for the Admin account. See Admin Portal Roles<\/a> to learn more.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Important:<\/strong> Carefully consider who you give access to certain roles like Administrator and Administrator with Billing.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

              1. If you want to give the Admin API access, select the checkbox next to Enable API access<\/strong>. See JumpCloud APIs<\/a> to learn more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              2. Click create<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
              3. The Admin will be sent an email to the address you specified during account creation. This email contains a link to set the initial password for the account. After they set their password, the new Admin can log in to the Admin Portal and manage JumpCloud.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                 Editing Admin Accounts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                 Only users with the Administrator with Billing <\/strong>role can modify existing Admin accounts.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

                 To modify existing admin accounts<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                 \n
                 1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                 2. In the top-right corner, click your initials. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
                 3. Click Administrators<\/strong>. This takes you to the Settings<\/strong> page, Administrators<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                 4. Click details<\/strong> for the Admin you want to modify. The Edit Administrator panel <\/strong>appears.\n
                    \n
                    • You can edit the First Name<\/strong>, Last Name<\/strong>, Administrator Email Address<\/strong>, or change their Role<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • If you want to give the Admin API access, select the checkbox next to Enable API access<\/strong>. \n
                      \n
                      • If enabled and the Admin has generated a key, you’ll see the first four characters of the Admin’s API key, and the date it was created as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                      • If you need to reset TOTP for your account, you can click Send TOTP Reset Email<\/strong> to initiate the reset. After confirming that you want to reset your TOTP, click Send<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
                      • If you need to reset your password, under Account Settings<\/strong>, click on Send Password Reset Email<\/strong>. After confirming that you want to reset your password, click Send<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                      • Click Save<\/strong> when you are finished making changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        Deleting Admin Accounts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                        Deleting an Admin account invalidates API and connect keys associated with the account. This action is immediate and irreversible.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

                        • Only Admins with the Administrator with Billing<\/strong> role can delete existing Admin accounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        • Admins that have been created from an existing user are automatically deleted when the user is deleted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

                          To delete admin accounts<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          \n
                          1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          2. In the top-right corner, click your initials. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          3. Click Administrators<\/strong>. This takes you to the Settings<\/strong> page, Administrators<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          4. Select the Admin accounts you want to delete, then click delete<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          5. The Delete Administrator<\/strong> confirmation modal appears. Click cancel<\/strong> to cancel the request, or click delete<\/strong> to confirm and remove the selected Admin accounts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
