This uniformity is helpful when troubleshooting technical issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you customize the OS, applications, drivers, and settings on a single computer (the imaging host), pre-install the JumpCloud agent before creating the image and deploying it to other computers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any device deployed from the template or image has a unique device record in your JumpCloud organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Considerations<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-installing the agent on a template or image doesn\u2019t create any JumpCloud user account associations. You must associate users with devices after the unique device record is created because the template isn\u2019t a unique record. You can automate user associations with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.jumpcloud.com\/api\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud\u2019s API<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card warning\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/warning-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Warning:<\/strong> \n<p>Do not reboot the device or restart the agent after removing the files in Step 4 of the following procedure. The agent is configured to start on boot. When the agent starts, it recreates the files and creates a unique device record in your organization. Deploying from an image with certificates and configuration files in place results in duplicate device records.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To pre-install the agent on a template or system image<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Before proceeding with installing the agent on a Windows imaging host, ensure that you do not have automatic enrollment enabled on Windows 10 &amp; 11 devices:\n<ol class=\"enter is-lower-alpha\">\n<li>Log in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT<\/strong> &gt; <strong>MDM<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Windows <\/strong>tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that the <strong>Automatically enroll all Windows 10 &amp; 11 devices into Windows MDM<\/strong> checkbox is disabled.<br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1849\" class=\"wp-image-93811\" style=\"width: 750px\" src=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/disable_automatic_enrollment_windows_MDM-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/disable_automatic_enrollment_windows_MDM-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/disable_automatic_enrollment_windows_MDM-300x217.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/disable_automatic_enrollment_windows_MDM-1024x740.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/disable_automatic_enrollment_windows_MDM-768x555.jpg 768w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/disable_automatic_enrollment_windows_MDM-1536x1109.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/disable_automatic_enrollment_windows_MDM-2048x1479.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>After you have completed creating or updating the system image, you can re-enable this option.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>On the imaging host, install the agent from the&nbsp;Admin Portal or the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/install-the-agent-from-command-line\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">command line<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/stop-start-or-restart-the-agent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stop the agent<\/a>&nbsp;on the imaging host in one of the following ways:\n<ul>\n<li>Windows: <code>sc stop jumpcloud-agent<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Linux: <code>service jcagent stop<\/code>\n<ul>\n<li>For newer Linux devices with systemd, you can also use <code>systemctl: systemctl stop jcagent<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove the following files: <strong>ca.crt<\/strong>, <strong>client.crt client.key<\/strong>, and <strong>jcagent.conf<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"is-lower-alpha\">\n<li>Use one of these methods to remove the files:\n<ul>\n<li>Windows &#8211; Open the following folder and remove the files: <code>C:\\Program Files\\JumpCloud\\Plugins\\Contrib<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Linux &#8211; Run the following command: <code>sudo rm -f \/opt\/jc\/ca.crt \/opt\/jc\/client.crt \/opt\/jc\/client.key \/opt\/jc\/jcagent.conf<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/uninstall-the-agent\">Remove the device record<\/a> created for this template in the Admin Portal, otherwise this device is orphaned. All operating systems use these steps:&nbsp;(You can also use the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.jumpcloud.com\/api\/2.0\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud API<\/a>.)\n<ol class=\"is-lower-alpha\">\n<li>Log in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT &gt; Devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the checkbox next to the imaging host.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>delete<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure the template or image to set unique network parameters such as hostname, IP, MAC, before the agent starts. This forces the agent to use the details for the specific device when it checks in with JumpCloud rather than using those assigned to the template.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without rebooting the imaging host, create the template or image.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Associate users with devices in the Admin Portal or JumpCloud API.\n<ul>\n<li>Admin Portal:\n<ol class=\"is-lower-alpha\">\n<li>Log in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select a device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Users<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the checkbox for the user&#8217;s account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>save device<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>JumpCloud API:\n<ul>\n<li>Use the following endpoint:<br><strong>POST<br>\/users\/{user_id}\/associations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See JumpCloud&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.jumpcloud.com\/api\/2.0\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">API Users documentation<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A template or system image can be used to efficiently set up multiple devices that include the JumpCloud agent and [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":206,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_oasis_is_in_workflow":0,"_oasis_original":0,"_oasis_task_priority":"","inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"support_category":[2923,2856,2852],"support_tag":[],"coauthors":[2842],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v22.9 (Yoast SEO v22.9) -
