Using the Microsoft Store via JumpCloud Software Management allows you to control the installation and updating of software on your JumpCloud-managed Windows fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Some benefits of the Microsoft Store include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Apps are verified and constantly updated &#8211; an important security feature<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Admins can easily manage licenses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apps can be deployed immediately to specific devices or groups using JumpCloud MDM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prerequisites<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Devices must be online and enrolled in JumpCloud Windows MDM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review supported Windows versions at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/agent-compatibility-system-requirements-and-impacts#windows\">JumpCloud Agent Compatibility, System Requirements, and Impacts<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Considerations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>JumpCloud is relying on Microsoft APIs for this service and if Microsoft changes these APIs, this feature may stop working.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card warning\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/warning-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Warning:<\/strong> \n<p>Not all software in the Microsoft Store can be deployed by JumpCloud today. Legacy applications that do not contain a Package Family Name (whose identifier starts with something other than 9) cannot yet be deployed from this software management solution.&nbsp;<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the Microsoft Store?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Microsoft Store is a unified distribution point for verified Windows apps. The Microsoft Store&#8217;s apps differ from apps available for public distribution as they are installed directly from the Store versus being downloaded and run as an installation package. They also offer greater security in that they are constantly updated and when installed, run in a &#8216;sandbox&#8217;. This means they can\u2019t touch data in other places on your JumpCloud managed Windows devices eliminating the need for administrator permission when installing apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Adding Applications from the Microsoft Store<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1908\" height=\"952\" class=\"wp-image-109962\" style=\"width: 800px\" src=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Microsoft-Store-3.gif\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To add using Search<\/strong> <strong>in the Admin Portal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigate to&nbsp;<strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT &gt; Software Management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Windows&nbsp;<\/strong>tab, select (<strong>+<\/strong>), and then <strong>Microsoft Store<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <strong>Package Settings<\/strong>, click <strong>Search Microsoft Store<\/strong> <strong>Directly<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Search <\/strong>field, enter the name of the application and select it. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Software Name<\/strong> and <strong>Package ID<\/strong> fields should auto-populate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card tip\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/tip-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Tip:<\/strong> \n<p>If the specific application you&#8217;re looking for isn&#8217;t found via the search in the Admin Portal, try <a href=\"#to-add-using-the-package-id\">searching in the Microsoft Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Optionally, make the following selections:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prevent auto-update<\/strong> &#8211; disables automatic updates. If this field is not selected, the Microsoft Store settings will determine whether the app is automatically updated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>Prevent users from uninstalling<\/strong><\/strong> &#8211; disables users&#8217; ability to uninstall the app from their device<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To add using the Package ID<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT &gt; Software Management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Windows&nbsp;<\/strong>tab, select (<strong>+<\/strong>), and then <strong>Microsoft Store<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <strong>Package Settings<\/strong>, click <strong>Enter Package ID Manually<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click the <strong>Microsoft Store<\/strong> link under <strong>Step 1<\/strong> and select <strong>Open link in new tab<\/strong>. \n<ul>\n<li>In the new tab, search for and select your desired application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the URL field, copy the PID<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card tip\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/tip-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Tip:<\/strong> \n<p>If the URL for the application is &#8220;https:\/\/apps.microsoft.com\/detail\/<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">9WZDNCRFJ3PV<\/mark><\/strong>?hl=en-us&amp;gl=US&#8221;, the PID will be <strong>9WZDNCRFJ3PV<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Back in the JumpCloud Admin Portal, enter the following information in <strong>Step 2<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Software Name<\/strong> &#8211; enter the name of the software<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Package ID<\/strong> &#8211; paste the PID copied from the the Microsoft Store<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make the final selections in <strong>Step 3<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prevent auto-update<\/strong> &#8211; disables automatic updates. If this field is not selected, the Microsoft Store settings will determine whether the app is automatically updated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>Prevent users from uninstalling<\/strong><\/strong> &#8211; disables users&#8217; ability to uninstall the app from their device<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To edit the Microsoft Store application<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Navigate to <strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT &gt; Software Management &gt; Windows<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search for and select the application from the list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make any changes and then click <strong>save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"deploying-windows-apps-to-your-devices\"><strong>Deploying Microsoft Store Apps to Your Device(s)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can deploy Windows apps to one or more specific <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/admin-portal-devices-list#viewing-the-devices-list\">devices<\/a> or a preconfigured&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/create-a-device-group\">Device Group<\/a>. After deployment, apps will be installed within 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To deploy to specific devices<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT &gt; Software Management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Windows&nbsp;<\/strong>tab and select the app you want to deploy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Devices&nbsp;<\/strong>tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Windows device(s) where you want to deploy the app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>save<\/strong> and then <strong>save&nbsp;<\/strong>again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To deploy to a device group<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT &gt; Software Management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Windows&nbsp;<\/strong>tab and select the app you want to deploy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Device Groups<\/strong>&nbsp;tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the group(s) that you want to deploy the app to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>save<\/strong> and then <strong>save&nbsp;<\/strong>again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To confirm the Windows app has been installed to a device or group<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/\">JumpCloud Admin Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT &gt; Software Management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Status <\/strong>tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A list of devices where the app is installed will appear. Click <strong>View <\/strong>next to any of devices for the following information:\n<ul>\n<li>Status<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Status Details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Status Code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Software Version<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Timestamp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Ok <\/strong>when finished.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Directory Insights Events<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following Directory Insights (DI) events provide visibility into failures and detailed information when managing software with the Microsoft Store. The events will be logged,\u00a0<em>irrespective of PackageManager<\/em>, whenever actions occur via admin-portal\/API <em>(<\/em>PackageManager details will be included in logs<em>)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>Customers with no package or the Device Management Package will need to add the Directory Insights \u00e0 la carte option. Apps<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the app from the <strong>Apps &amp; features<\/strong> list and click <strong>Uninstall<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restart your computer (if directed) to complete the uninstall.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Admin removal of apps<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card important\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/important-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Important:<\/strong> \n<p>This removes the managed software package from the Admin Portal, not from the users&#8217; machines.
