If you have Linux servers, maybe you can piece together some Chef or Puppet scripts or even take the step of&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/blog\/ldap-in-the-cloud\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">deploying Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The problem is a lot easier to solve without any cross-platform user management issues. Furthermore, the cloud can make it challenging to have a centralized user management system.&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/devops.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DevOps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and IT admins already know that the&nbsp;addition of a platform more than doubles the amount of work. Unfortunately, many organizations don\u2019t have the luxury of being homogenous or on-prem anymore.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A&nbsp;Centralized User Management System<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customers and colleagues have told <a href=\"\/\">JumpCloud<\/a>\u00ae about this key source of pain countless times. We started with supporting Linux servers for our user management functionality, but last year we created a prototype for <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/blog\/windows-user-management\/\">Windows<\/a>. Our kind friends at\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clipinteractive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clip Interactive<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0have been putting it through its\u00a0paces, and they have helped us iron out some\u00a0issues. Consequently, we are proud to announce general availability of our\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/press\/automated-windows-user-management-leaps-forward-with-jumpcloud\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">user management functionality for Windows servers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! JumpCloud will support Windows Server 2008 and 2012. One identity can be used across both platforms. Windows servers can be mixed and matched in a tag which is how\u00a0JumpCloud groups systems and users together. Hence,\u00a0a dev tag or QA tag could contain both Linux and Windows systems. Those users associated with that tag would now have access to both types of machines. A\u00a0centralized, virtual, and cloud-based identity provider is the result.
