Vault: Import Credentials from External Tools

You can efficiently bring credentials from other password management systems or external sources into Vault by using a spreadsheet import. This process is especially useful for migrating existing data. The import is straightforward and only requires you to prepare your data and then upload it to the platform

Importing Credentials from Excel

  1. Log in to your Vault platform.
  2. Go to Credentials. The Credentials page is displayed.
  3. Click Import Tool and then select Download File Template.
  4. Fill the template with data in the specified format and save it in your local drive.
  5. On the Vault platform, go to Credentials and then select Import from excel. The file selection window is displayed.
  6. Select Import from Template.
  7. Select the saved .xlsx template and click Open to upload it.

Importing Credentials from External Tools

To import credentials from external tools to Vault, first you need to upload the file by the followings steps:

  1. Log in to your Vault platform.
  2. Go to Credentials > Import Tool and then select Import from Custom File. The file selection window is displayed.
  3. Select a .xlsx file and click Open to upload it.

Once the file is uploaded, configure it and start the import process by the following:

  1. Choose Columns:
    • An interface will appear, allowing you to select which columns from your spreadsheet correspond to Vault's credential fields (e.g., username, password, URL).
  2. Start Import:
    • Once you've selected the desired columns and configured the mapping, click Start Import.
  3. Import Completion:
    • The import process will begin and should be completed within a few minutes, adding all your credentials to Vault.
