Vault helps you to manage credentials for various resources like computers, devices, databases, and social networks, that should be changed periodically. By configuring an expiration date, you will see a dashboard alert when a credential is about to expire or has already expired, prompting you to take action and maintain your security.
Setting an Expiration Date
To set an expiration date for your credentials:
- During the credential registration process in Vault, choose the type of credential you're adding: a key or a password.
- Enter the desired expiration date.
- Click Save.
Note:
Vault will notify you when a change is needed, but the main administrator is responsible for manually updating the credential. This involves updating it on both the resource itself and within the Vault.
