Users: Connect ChatGPT to the AI Gateway

To securely access your company's enterprise applications directly from your ChatGPT Desktop app, you must connect it to the JumpCloud AI Gateway. Connecting through JumpCloud ensures your enterprise data remains secure and your access is verified.

Configuring ChatGPT

Use the setup details you retrieved from the User Portal to configure your ChatGPT Desktop application.

  1. Go to ChatGPT in your browser.
  2. Select your profile icon and go to Settings.
  3. Go to Apps > Advanced Settings, then toggle on Developer mode.
  4. Return to Apps, then click Create an app.
  5. Enter the Name and MCP Server URL: https://ai.jumpcloud.com/mcp
  6. Leave authentication as OAuth and then select the checkbox to agree.
  7. Click Create.
  8. Save your connector settings.
  9. You’ll be redirected to the AI Gateway for authentication. Proceed to Authenticating Your Tools.

Authenticating Your Tools

Once the AI Gateway is added to ChatGPT, you must connect to it, then authorize and authenticate to the specific enterprise tools (like Atlassian or GitHub) before the AI can access them.

  1. You'll be redirected to the JumpCloud authorization page.
  2. Under Authorize Tool Access for ChatGPT, review the list of available enterprise tools. Select the checkbox next to each tool you want your AI client to access.
  3. Authenticate to the selected tools based on their required connection method:
    • API Key: Enter your personal API key for the application in the text field and click Save. You must generate this key directly within the third-party application (for example, in your Atlassian or Slack account settings). If you don't know where to find your key, click the documentation link provided below the text field.
    • OAuth: Click Connect via OAuth. You'll be redirected to the application to securely sign in, and then returned to this page.
  4. Once all required tools display a green Connected status, click Authorize tools at the bottom of the page.
  5. It may take a moment to redirect you back to ChatGPT settings.
  6. Under Information, click Refresh to reload your tools.
  7. You are automatically redirected back to ChatGPT. Your AI client can now use the tools authorized through the gateway.
