JumpCloud® AI & SaaS Management gives you visibility and control over shadow IT, including AI and SaaS app usage, within your org. Connectors detect shadow IT without adoption of a browser extension and provide a significant increase to valuable usage and security insights.
The Cursor connector retrieves the user list, MCP server connections, and AI model usage (including token count and cost) from the Cursor API every 6 hours. Using periodic polling, it captures new users and application associations to keep data accurate and up-to-date.
Prerequisites:
- You need a Cursor account with admin access.
Considerations:
- Data Retrieval: This connector provides visibility into:
- Cursor Users: An up-to-date list of all team members.
- AI Token Usage: Provides aggregate usage data per AI model and estimated costs for individual users and the org.
- Data Delay: AI token usage and cost data may have a delay of up to 24 hours to reflect in the JumpCloud dashboard, as Cursor aggregates these events periodically.
- Sync Time: Based on your org size, the initial collection of data may take some time, up to an hour.
Configuring Cursor
- Log in to Cursor and go to Team Settings.
- In the API Keys section, click Add.
- Enter a name for the key and ensure the Admin scope is selected.
- Click Create, then copy and save the API Key. You'll need this to complete the JumpCloud configuration.
For security reasons, you'll only see the API Key once. Save it in a secure location before closing the window.
Configuring JumpCloud
- Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal.
If your data is stored outside of the US, check which login URL you should be using depending on your region, see JumpCloud Data Centers to learn more.
- Go to Access > AI & SaaS Management > Settings.
- Under AI & SaaS Management Settings, click the Connectors tab, then click + Add Connector.
- Click the Cursor connector.
- Enter the following information:
- The Connector name.
- The API Key copied from Cursor.
- Click Connect and then Save Connector. You will now see Cursor in your list of Connectors.
If permissions are accidentally removed, or if the admin who configured left your organization, the connector will stop working and you will be prompted to Reconnect.
Required Permissions
- This connector requires an API Key generated with the Admin scope to retrieve team member lists and AI model usage data.
Uninstall/Remove
- On the Connector’s detail page, click on Delete Connector and follow the prompts.
- To revoke the permissions granted to JumpCloud, delete the API Key in the Cursor Team Settings.
