JumpCloud Vault: Admins

JumpCloud Vault is a centralized all-in-one platform to manage all shared credentials and privileged access of an organization.

JumpCloud Vault Activation: First-time Admins

Prerequisites: 

  • Admin must be associated with a user account.
  • If you don’t have a matching user account, create a user with the same email ID as that of your Admin account. See Assigning an Admin Role to a User to learn more.

For an Admin to activate JumpCloud Vault:

  1. Log in to the JumpCloud Admin portal.
  2. Go to Access > Vault.
  3. Click Set Up your vault. You’ll receive an email after the vault is created.
  4. Enroll the user group in which the activating Admin is a part of. See Enrolling User Groups to learn more.
  5. After this, Admins can assign vault access to other users and user groups.

Note:

Activating Admins are assigned the Admin role by default, while other users added by the Admin are assigned the User role. The activating Admin can change the role of users through Vault. See Vault: Roles to learn more.

Browser Extension

Password Management capabilities are provided through the JumpCloud Go Extension.

Supported Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Admins can also deploy the JumpCloud Go extension using conditional access policies for Safari and Chrome. See Create a Mac or Windows Chrome Force-Installed Extension List Policy to learn more.

Administration

Audit Logs

The Audit Logs section shows the logs for the Vault. You can see the following details for various actions performed by users.

  1. Username
  2. Service
  3. Action
  4. Duration
  5. IP Address
  6. Browser
  7. Time

Click the magnifying glass icon under Actions to view more details. You can also export the logs in an .xlsx format by clicking the Export to File button.

Configuring Authentication

Users can access JumpCloud Vault through the User Portal.

If you use IdPs other than JumpCloud. You can integrate JumpCloud Vault with IdPs and directories by performing the required steps. See the following articles to learn more.
