Configure Google Workspace Apps for the AI Gateway

To allow your users to securely query Google Workspace apps using their AI clients, you can configure a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for each specific Google Workspace app (for example, Drive or Gmail) within the JumpCloud AI Gateway.

Prerequisites

• Before configuring specific enterprise applications, we recommend reviewing the Get Started: AI Gateway guide to familiarize yourself with the gateway architecture and core AI concepts (such as MCP servers and AI clients).

Completing Application Setup

To enable MCP servers in Google. you’ll need to join the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program. See Google’s Google Workspace Developer Preview Program to learn how to apply.

Each Google app (for example Docs, Drive, Gmail, etc.) has its own individual MCP server URL and setup steps. Before you can connect any of these servers to JumpCloud, you must configure the required authentication parameters within your Google Cloud console for each app MCP server you want to use.

Refer to the official Google documentation to Configure Google Workspace MCP servers and ensure the following prerequisites are met for each app MCP server:

• Enable the Server: You must create an OAuth Client ID within the Google Cloud Console for each app.
• Configure Server Settings: To allow JumpCloud to securely route authentication tokens, you must add the following Redirect URL in your Google OAuth client settings depending on your region:
  • US:  https://console.jumpcloud.com/userconsole/mcp/servers/callback
  • EU: https://console.eu.jumpcloud.com/userconsole/mcp/servers/callback
  • IN: https://console.in.jumpcloud.com/userconsole/mcp/servers/callback
• Authentication Method: OAuth authentication. You will need your Google Client ID and Client Secret to complete the JumpCloud setup.

Configuring the Server in JumpCloud

• App: Click Google Workspace if you have an existing SSO application. See SSO with Google Workspace to learn more.

• Name: Enter a name depending on specific Google app you're configuring, for example Google Calendar.
• Prefix: Enter a value to prepend to MCP tool names
  • Note: Prefixes must be unique. Maximum 8 characters, letters and numbers only
• URL: Enter the Google remote MCP server URL for the app you're configuring:
  • Calendar: https://calendarmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
  • Chat: https://chatmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
  • Docs: https://docsmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
  • Drive: https://drivemcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
  • Gmail: https://gmailmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
  • People: https://people.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
  • Sheets: https://sheetsmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
  • Slides: https://slidesmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1

• MCP authentication method: OAuth
• Advanced fields: Enter the Client ID and Client Secret from Google

Your users will now see the Google Workspace app listed as an available MCP server when they authenticate their AI clients through the JumpCloud AI Gateway.
