People of JumpCloud | Shane Watson

People are the lifeblood of any organization, but so rarely do they receive the spotlight like the innovative applications and services, company missions, and devoted customer communities they work so hard to create. We want to change that.

At JumpCloud every individual makes a difference, and their work matters no matter what function they hold. This ongoing series aims to showcase the personalities and contributions of every JumpCloudian and share the spotlight with the people who work hard every day to help Make Work HappenTM.

Shane Watson (He/Him)
Conversion Rate Optimization Manager
Arvada, CO

We recently caught up with Shane Watson about what it’s like to work as Conversion Rate Optimization Manager.

When did you start working at JumpCloud?

June 2016.

How did you first learn about JumpCloud?

I found JumpCloud via an Indeed job posting.

Can you run us through a day in the life of your role at JumpCloud?

I work with the demand generation team to build a scalable and sustainable lead generation engine via first- and third-party programs — including content, advertising, webinars, etc.

I also work cross-functionally to ensure projects and programs go to market smoothly with an optimal path to quality lead generation for the funnel.

How have you grown as an individual since starting at the company?

I started in community, social media, and SEO copywriting and have since been able to work and learn all the areas of marketing — from events and digital to PR and partner marketing. I’ve been given a significant amount of freedom to learn and develop as a professional within the company. Overall, I have learned a lot from both experience and the incredible team that we have at JumpCloud.

Pick a JumpCloud value (Build Connections, Think Big, 1% Better Every Day) and share an example of how you lived that value recently. Build Connections — I work with my team cross-functionally every day to ensure all programs run smoothly and are optimized. My team executes many programs from content to webinars that involve connecting with both internal and external teams/resources. Constant connection is needed to ensure copy, ads, slide decks, assets, etc. are created in time and with the right information. Then, the entire team needs to come together to execute a smooth live event.

What is something that you have accomplished at JumpCloud that you are proud of? I am proud to be a part of such an incredible team. Seeing the company grow from 30 people to hundreds is something that has always amazed me. I am very proud to have been a part of the early days and growth we have experienced as a team.

What keeps you energized about working at JumpCloud? The opportunity and team are always inspiring and keep me motivated.

What do you like to do on your days off? Spend time with my wife and dog — cooking, relaxing, watching sports, reading, skiing, and more.

What advice do you have for prospective JumpCloud candidates?

Collaboration and agility are key. Get excited to work with a great team in an environment that never gets stagnant!

What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it? “Red Platoon by Clint Romesha. It is an amazing story of courage and comradery.

What’s something you plan to do in the next year that you’ve never done?

I am planning to get back into playing hockey in some recreational leagues. It’s been years since I’ve played — definitely the longest break I’ve had from the sport in my life!

What is your 15 minutes of fame?

My brief stint as an actor in local commercials during college.

If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pad thai

Do you have any pets as in-house colleagues?

I share my home co-working space with an incredibly sassy six-year-old Shiba Inu named Hobbes.
