People are the lifeblood of any organization, but so rarely do they receive the spotlight like the innovative applications and services, company missions, and devoted customer communities they work so hard to create. We want to change that.
At JumpCloud every individual makes a difference, and their work matters no matter what function they hold. This ongoing series aims to showcase the personalities and contributions of every JumpCloudian and share the spotlight with the people who work hard every day to help Make Work HappenTM.

We recently caught up with Katie Evans about what it’s like to work as Customer Marketing Manager.
When did you start working at JumpCloud?
February 2021.
How did you first learn about JumpCloud?
A few of my former colleagues had joined JumpCloud, so when I started hearing just how much they loved it here, I wanted to learn more. The company’s vision and energy, along with an extremely passionate customer base, really sold me on it being a great place to grow my career. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the awesome things happening at JumpCloud.
Can you run us through a day in the life of your role at JumpCloud?
It definitely varies from day to day. At JumpCloud, we’re lucky to have lots of customers who love our product and are willing to tell the world about it. It’s my job to help share those stories through activities like case studies, webinars, podcasts, press releases, peer review sites like G2 and Capterra, and more. While there are a lot of ways we talk about our happy customers, most of it involves learning why they chose JumpCloud and how it’s helped them. Hearing about how we’ve helped make their jobs easier is super rewarding.
How have you grown as an individual since starting at the company?
I’ve started learning how to trust my intuition when it comes to the content I create. I still have moments where I get in my own head and question if I’m doing things the “right” way, even when there’s no clear-cut set of instructions to follow. But I’ve definitely become more comfortable following my instincts since joining JumpCloud.
Pick a JumpCloud value (Build Connections, Think Big, 1% Better Every Day) and share an example of how you lived that value recently. Build Connections. Every day I get the chance to meet with someone new, whether it’s a colleague or a customer. I recently worked closely with our Product Management team to set up a series of check-in calls with our CEO, so it was a great opportunity to make connections not only with that team, but also with our CEO.
What is something that you have accomplished at JumpCloud that you are proud of? Seeing the growth that’s taken place since I started makes me immeasurably proud. For example, we’ve secured over 500 new user reviews on G2 since I started — that is no easy feat! We have so many cool brands that we’re working with, so whenever they put their endorsement out into the world it’s a big deal. Plans are also in motion for some exciting new customer marketing initiatives that will launch in the near future … stay tuned!
What keeps you energized about working at JumpCloud? Having customers who are JumpCloud super fans, who want to shout their love for us from the mountain tops … that keeps me energized and shows me that we are doing something right. Working with people who are just as kind as they are hardworking is also something that sets JumpCloud apart.
What do you like to do on your days off? My husband and I bought a house this summer, so lately my days off have consisted of landscaping, decorating, and making it feel more like home. I also love to cook, spend time with my friends and family, and be outside as much as I can. Bonus points if there’s a pool, lake, or other body of water nearby.
What advice do you have for prospective JumpCloud candidates?
Make connections with your colleagues as early as you can once you join. It can be tough joining a company remotely in this pandemic era, but having a good team around you makes all the difference. Things also move quickly here, so prepare to work hard and know the rewards will be worth it.
What’s something you plan to do in the next year that you’ve never done?
I did several things for the first time this year, including buying a house, getting married, and zip lining through the rainforest in the Dominican Republic — it’s going to be hard to top that, but I’m going to try!
What is your 15 minutes of fame?
When I was in fifth grade, my siblings and I were offered $100 each to be in a back-to-school commercial for Meijer, a regional big-box store. They handed me and my sister Winnie the Pooh clothes and asked for our opinion so they could film our reaction (spoiler alert: we were not impressed), and my younger brother said he wanted a mountain bike for back to school. In spite of our very candid answers, we still made it to the final cut of the commercial! Unsurprisingly, no talent agencies came calling afterward.
If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Carne asada tacos, with extra limes on the side.
Do you have any pets as in-house colleagues?
We have what I like to call a three-ring circus: two cats, Lou and George, and one spoiled husky/German Shepherd/lab mix named Charlie. Lou is my grumpy old man, George lives for naps and food, and Charlie doesn’t realize she’s not actually a lap dog (she’s 80 lbs). They’re the best office mates I could ask for, even if I’ve yet to see any of them bring home a paycheck.
