People are the lifeblood of any organization, but so rarely do they receive the spotlight like the innovative applications and services, company missions, and devoted customer communities they work so hard to create. We want to change that.
At JumpCloud every individual makes a difference, and their work matters no matter what function they hold. This new, ongoing series aims to showcase the personalities and contributions of every JumpCloudian and share the spotlight with the people who work hard every day to help Make Work HappenTM.
Katie Clouse (She/Her)
Head of MSP Sales
Rocklin, CA

We recently caught up with Katie Clouse about what it’s like to work as Head of MSP Sales at JumpCloud. Since joining the company, Katie has been leading the effort to improve the partner experience. Her days are spent talking with and supporting current and prospective MSPs. As a mom of young kids, her days outside of work are filled with family time, including cooking and getting outside.
When did you start working at JumpCloud? February 2021.
How did you first learn about JumpCloud? From various technology partnerships.
Can you run us through a day in the life of your role at JumpCloud? The one constant is helping our partners. I spend my days talking with current and prospective MSPs and supporting them and our sales team. JumpCloud is continuously improving the partner experience. That translates to a lot of meetings with different groups in the organization: product, marketing, finance, etc. And I can’t forget interviews! Being part of a fast-growing company means there is a good chance I’m interviewing at least one person on any given day.
How have you grown as an individual since starting at the company? Remembering to look at the big picture. There is so much going on which makes it easy to get distracted, or focused on projects or solving problems that aren’t the best use of my time. JumpCloud has forced me to step back and ask myself questions as new things come my way: Is this something that needs to be done now? Is this a project I can delegate or ask for help from another team? Will this help us meet our objectives? I’ve always been good at asking other people questions. During my short time at JumpCloud I have gotten better at asking myself more questions and not losing sight of our goals.
Pick a JumpCloud value (Build Connections, Think Big, 1% Better Every Day) and share an example of how you lived that value recently. Most of what I do at JumpCloud equates to Building Connections. I’m constantly getting to know our current partners, new partners, and people on our internal teams. Recently, I’ve been building connections with fellow JumpCloudians who I otherwise wouldn’t meet since we are all remote. Virtual coffee, anyone?
What is something that you have accomplished at JumpCloud that you are proud of? The MSP team crushed it in Q2 and I couldn’t be more proud. We’ve had some big changes, and with that comes growing pains. Everyone stepped up and, most importantly, we won as a team.
What keeps you energized about working at JumpCloud? The people! JumpCloud is made up of really awesome folks: smart, energetic, and dedicated. I love working with them and learning something new every day. The fact that we also have a world-class platform that makes our partners’ lives easier? That’s the icing on the cake!
What do you like to do on your days off? I’m a mom with young kids so my days off are filled with family time. I enjoy cooking and getting outside, whether that’s skiing, hiking, or lounging by the pool. When I do have a moment to myself I am probably binge watching “Real Housewives,” my favorite guilty pleasure.
What advice do you have for prospective JumpCloud candidates? Buckle up! We’re moving fast and this is quite the ride!
What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it? I’m always reading two books, one more serious and one just for fun, so I’ll give two recommendations. “Atomic Habits” by James Clear is a great book about small changes that lead to large transformations, which complements JumpCloud’s value, “1% better every day.” My second recommendation is Taylor Jenkins Reid’s “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo,” a fantastic beach read.
What’s something you’re planning to do in the next year that you’ve never done? Climb Everest! Well, not the real Everest. This summer I am participating in a 29029 event where I will hike the equivalent of Mount Everest (29,029 vertical feet) in 36 hours. I’ve never even run a 5K before, so this is my ultimate Think Big!
If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pizza! Breakfast pizza? Great. Crappy leftover pizza? Great. Wood-fired pizza and a cold beer? The best.
