People of JumpCloud | Julie Hertzberg

People are the lifeblood of any organization, but so rarely do they receive the spotlight like the innovative applications and services, company missions, and devoted customer communities they work so hard to create. We want to change that.

At JumpCloud every individual makes a difference, and their work matters no matter what function they hold. This ongoing series aims to showcase the personalities and contributions of every JumpCloudian and share the spotlight with the people who work hard every day to help Make Work HappenTM.

Julie Hertzberg (She/Her)
Senior Manager of Technical Account Management
Denver, CO

We recently caught up with Julie Hertzberg about what it’s like to work as Senior Manager of Technical Account Management at JumpCloud.

When did you start working at JumpCloud? February 2021.

Can you run us through a day in the life of your role at JumpCloud? I am currently focused on building the Technical Account Management (TAM) team, which means I spend my time doing a few different things:

  • Working with our TAM team to ensure they are going above and beyond for our customers
  • Working internally with our Professional Services team to create effective, efficient, and repeatable processes to enhance the customer journey
  • Working cross-functionally to ensure the product meets our customers’ needs

How have you grown as an individual since starting at the company? When I started with JumpCloud as the Manager of Customer Success, I never would have thought that I would later be in Professional Services leading our Technical Account Management team. We went through a major business transformation and I have a lot of trust in our leadership team to do what is right for our customers and for our employees. I am currently training to get my CompTIA A+ certification along with a few others on the team. I have a lot of gratitude for our leadership team who made this opportunity possible!

Pick a JumpCloud value (Build Connections, Think Big, 1% Better Every Day) and share an example of how you lived that value recently. There is always something to learn at JumpCloud, and because of that 1% Better Every Day comes to mind. We put several different processes in place and we always start with Version 1. We work the process for a few days and allow the team to share feedback and then continue to iterate on the process… Version 2… Version 3… until we get to a steady state. It’s incredibly empowering when you work in an organization where it’s OK to fail. The key is to listen to each other and keep trying. There are no wrong answers at JumpCloud! I hadn’t worked in an environment where this attitude of experimentation was appreciated and it has sparked a lot of curiosity and creativity!

There are several different processes that come to mind, but one that sticks out is our Play Book and how we have continued to iterate and improve both the customer and employee experience by optimizing our processes.

What is something that you have accomplished at JumpCloud that you are proud of? I am incredibly proud of our team. We have been steadfast in hiring great individuals who lead with curiosity and seek to understand. Because of this we recently scored 100% on our Employer Net Promoter Score or eNPS score (a scoring system designed to help employers measure employee satisfaction and loyalty within their organizations) for culture and fit/belonging. It is incredibly important to me that folks feel like they can bring their whole selves to work every day and that they feel safe doing so!

What keeps you energized about working at JumpCloud? Hands down our people and our customers! It is an incredible feeling when you get to work with people who have the best interests of our customers in mind with every decision they make.

What do you like to do on your days off? On my days off, I love spending time with my family. My husband and I have a four-year-old son who keeps us very busy, and no weekend is the same. We are a family that loves to try new things, which is easy in the Denver area. We enjoy getting out on our e-bikes and exploring new parks, and I can’t forget to mention cooking and baking — finding new recipes brings me joy. I’m also determined that by the end of 2022, I will have found the best chocolate chip cookie recipe (if you have one that you swear by, send it my way)!

What advice do you have for prospective JumpCloud candidates? JumpCloud is a great place for folks who want to invest in growing their careers, their teams, their customers, as well as grow the company. JumpCloud is an exceptional place for values-based individuals to come and make a difference!

What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it? I recently read Brene Brown’s book “Dare to Lead: Brave Work, Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts.” This book embodies the leader that I strive to be and encourages me to speak from my heart and lean into vulnerability. It has helped to create an incredibly empowered team who feel psychologically safe at work.

What’s something you plan to do in the next year that you’ve never done? We just got our four-year-old his very first passport, so hopefully we’ll be able to travel internationally with him for the first time!

If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? No contest, salmon sashimi.
